Arena Stage's THE CITY OF CONVERSATION, Starring Margaret Colin, Begins Performances Today

Anthony Giardina's Off-Broadway smash hit THE CITY OF CONVERSATION, about a Georgetown political hostess, makes its Washington, D.C. debut at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater beginning tonight, January 29. Following his direction of the 2014 world premiere at Lincoln Center Theater, Tony Award winner Doug Hughes returns to direct this political drama spanning three decades, from Carter's presidency through the Reagan era and ending with Obama's inauguration. THE CITY OF CONVERSATION runs through March 6, 2016 in the Fichandler Stage.

Lynne Meadow (Artistic Director) and Barry Grove (Executive Producer) have just announced complete casting for Manhattan Theatre Club's upcoming American premiere of The Father, the new play by Moliere Award winner Florian Zeller, in a translation by two-time Tony Award winner Christopher Hampton (Sunset Boulevard, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, God of Carnage), in a new production directed by Tony Award winner Doug Hughes (Doubt, Outside Mullingar, City of Conversation) atMTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street).

Lyric Opera of Chicago continues its 61st season with
Romeo and Juliet in a new-to-Chicago production created by Tony Award-winning director Bartlett Sher, Monday, February 22 through Saturday, March 19(nine performances). This is the eighth and final mainstage opera production of the widely acclaimed 2015/16 season.

Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of André Bishop, Producing Artistic Director) has announced the casting of a succession of Kings to star this spring in its Tony Award-winning production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's THE KING AND I, directed by Bartlett Sher, at the Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65 Street). Hoon Lee, who is currently starring as the King of Siam, will play his final performance in the role on Sunday, February 28.

Lyric Opera of Chicago presents a new-to-Chicago production of Romeo and Juliet, Feb. 22-March 19, 2016, helmed by Tony Award-winning director Bartlett Sher-who makes his Lyric debut fresh off directing the four-time Tony Award-winning revival of The King and I at Lincoln Center Theater. Lyric's Romeo and Juliet is presented in conjunction with the Shakespeare 400 Chicago international arts festival, for which Lyric is a partner organization.
