Director Beata Pitch Awarded Artist Residency in Paris

The Trap Door Theatre has announced that Artistic Director Beata Pilch has been selected for an Artist Residency at the Program Cite Internationale des Arts-Home of foreign artists in France. Pilch was the only person from the United States to be selected for this honor, as well as the only theatre artist. During her three month long residency in Paris, beginning in April, Pilch will network with French actors, playwrights and directors to seek out new productions to bring to Chicago.
This residency was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Cultural services of the French Embassy in Chicago and New York.

Catherine Deneuve will receive the Film Society of Lincoln Center's 39th Chaplin Award on Monday, April 2, 2012 in New York City. The annual gala is the Film Society's largest annual fundraiser, benefiting the ongoing programs of the Film Society of Lincoln Center.

Idris Elba to Reprise Role in Upcoming THOR 2

Actor Idris Elba has confirmed to MTV News that he will reprise his role of the Norse god Heimdall in THOR 2, the sequel to the 2011 Marvel Comic's film. In an interview with MTV, the actor revealed, 'Thor 2 for sure. We're going at it again.'

To those who've seen the Oscar-winning screen adaptation of WEST SIDE STORY, the recollections of George Chakiris' performance as Bernardo remain vivid. His acting is top notch, his singing is superb and his dancing comes darn close to burning up the celluloid it is preserved on. He was awarded an Oscar as 'Best Supporting Actor' for his work on that film and now, fifty years later, he is about to imprint his handprints and signature outside of the famed Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood. Sometimes the film industry can be a little slow on the uptake, won't you agree?

As previously reported, Roundabout Theatre Company has announced that Stephanie J. Block will join the Tony Award winning company of Anything Goes performing the role of 'Reno Sweeney' while Sutton Foster is filming the television pilot, Bunheads, for 3 weeks in November. Specific dates have been announced today and Block will officially be stepping into the role November 4 through November 22.

The Museum of Modern Art recognizes the achievements of Roman Polanski with a complete retrospective of the filmmaker's works, September 7-30, 2011, in The Roy and Niuta Titus Theaters.
