BWW Reviews: Zilker Theatre's LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS is Big on Entertainment

Anyone who's seen any of the annual Zilker summer musicals in Austin's Zilker Park know that, though the productions are free to the public, the entertainment value and quality are always top-notch. Zilker's 55th annual production, Little Shop of Horrors, does not disappoint. This is a dazzling, colorful, and hysterically funny take on a staple of musical theater. The shop may be little, but the entertainment value is gigantic.

Stage and screen stars Lin-Manuel Miranda and Jaime Camil lead 200 Cartas- a romantic comedy about the life of a Puerto Rican born in NY. One night, Raul meets Maria, a young Puerto Rican woman visiting New York. The night of their encounter, something dramatic happens and they are suddenly separated. Struck by love at first sight, he travels to Puerto Rico in search of this beautiful girl. This adventure will have him traveling around the island in search of his love.

Telemundo's EL SENOR DE LOS CIELOS Finale Draws Over 3.6 Million Total Viewers

On the heels of delivering its best weekly performance to date, Telemundo Media's original production “El Señor de los Cielos” (The Lord of the Skies, M-F 10pm ET) came to an end delivering its highest-rated telecast and the second highest-rated finale in the network's history, regardless of time period, averaging 3,627,000 total viewers and 2,324,000 adults 18-49, according to Nielsen. In its final episode, the popular novela ranked as the #1 program in its time period among Spanish-language networks, out delivering Univision among adults 18-49 by 60% and among total viewers by 16%.

IN THE HEIGHTS to Kick Off Paramount's 2013-14 Broadway Series in Aurora, 9/11-10/6

Aurora's Paramount Theatre will launch its third Broadway subscription series this September with the first local professional staging of In the Heights, one of Broadway's most acclaimed contemporary musicals, a potent reminder of the importance of chasing one's dreams, and the show all of Chicago will be talking about this fall. Performances are September 11 through October 6, 2013. Press opening is Saturday, September 14 at 8 p.m.

Telemundo Delivers Best July Ratings in Network History

Telemundo Media delivered the best July ratings in the network's history, up 13% percent over last year in key demos with an average of 1,483,000 total viewers and 754,000 adults 18-49 during Monday through Sunday primetime programming, according to Nielsen. The network marks its 5th consecutive period of year-over-year growth in total viewers during the month of July, surpassing its record breaking performance last year.

NY City Center to Celebrate 10th Anniversary of FALL FOR DANCE Festival with Alvin Ailey & Royal Ballet, Begin. 9/16

New York City Center is celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Fall for Dance Festival with a very special season, beginning with two free evenings of dance at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park, hosted by The Public Theater, on September 16 and 17 (rain date, September 18). The Festival will continue at City Center from September 25 - October 5 with performances by 20 acclaimed dance companies and artists from around the world, including three new works from today's most exciting young choreographers, commissioned by New York City Center in celebration of the tenth anniversary.

SecondStory Rep to Present LITTLE WOMEN, 7/26-8/4

LITTLE WOMEN will run July 26 - August 4, 2013, Fridays at 7pm, Saturdays at 2pm & 7pm, Sundays at 2pm. The musical features Music by Jason Howland, Lyrics by Mindi Dickstein and Book by Allan Knee. Based on the novel by Louisa May Alcott. The production is directed by Alyson Soma with music director Tatiana Kruse.

BWW CD Reviews: FANCY NANCY THE MUSICAL (Off-Broadway Cast Recording) is Bright, Bubbly, and Forgettable

FANCY NANCY THE MUSICAL, produced by The Vital Theatre Company, opened Off-Broadway at the McGinn/Cazale Theatre in New York City on September 29, 2012. The popular production was extended twice. On November 24, 2012, it moved Downtown to The Culture Project and ran through April 28, 2013. Since it closed in New York, the musical adaption of Jane O'Connor and Robin Preiss Glassner's popular book series went on a limited National Tour, and the musical is slated to return to the McGinn/Cazale Theatre on September 28, 2013.

Thomas Chapin Film Project Launches Shooting in Hartford, CT

The moving story of Connecticut native and NYC jazz man, the late Thomas Chapin, will begin to unfold for documentary film cameras starting July 8 at a Hartford, CT concert, which will feature musicians who knew him and played with him during his short but remarkable 20-year musical career.
