Laura Benanti to Headline 2014 Globe Gala, SUMMER SPLENDOR, This Weekend

The Old Globe will host the 2014 Globe Gala on Saturday, July 26 in support of the theatre's education and artistic programs. The annual event will feature a one-night-only performance by Broadway veteran and Tony Award winner Laura Benanti (Gypsy, Into the Woods, NBC's The Sound of Music Live!, 'The Good Wife,' 'Go On'), based on her smash hit New York cabaret (and new CD) In Constant Search of the Right Kind of Attention. Nina Doede, Deni Jacobs, and Sheryl White serve as Co-Chairs of the 2014 Globe Gala.

Kelly Brook is the New Face of SKECHERS

Model, actress and television presenter Kelly Brook has signed on with SKECHERS to appear globally in the footwear company's multi-platform marketing and social media campaigns through 2015. The British-born star will become a new face for SKECHERS women's footwear collections.

Diane Warren To Be Honored By Point Foundation

Point Foundation (Point) will present its Leadership Award to songwriter Diane Warren, whose work has been recognized with Grammy and Golden Globe awards and multiple Academy Award nominations. The Point Leadership Award is given to an individual who has achieved prominence in their professional career and unequivocally supported the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) community. Warren has repeatedly spoken out against bigotry of all kinds, including discrimination directed at the LGBTQ community. The 'It Gets Better' musical theater project that is touring the U.S. in support of LGBTQ youth includes songs of Warren's alongside those of Gnarls Barkley, Kelly Clarkson and Alanis Morissette.

Electric Youth to Give Free Concerts in Franklin and Norfolk, 7/30-31

On July 1, 2014, single tickets go on sale for Signature Theatre's 25th Anniversary Season. The 2014/15 season will bring three new musicals to life in world premieres including the world premiere of the Sheryl Crow and Barry Levinson penned musical adaptation of the 1982 movie Diner; Kid Victory by John Kander (Chicago, Cabaret) and Greg Pierce; and Soon by Nick Blaemire. The season begins with Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Sunday in the Park with George; and continues with the musical version of Sinclair Lewis's best-selling novel Elmer Gantry; the DC area premiere of Sex with Strangers by Laura Eason; a world premiere concert event Simply Sondheim celebrating the work of Stephen Sondheim; and Kander & Ebb's classic musical Cabaret. Tickets to all of these events as well as Signature's Cabaret and Holiday Follies concerts go on sale to the public July 1 at 10AM.
