L.A. Master Chorale Tickets Now On Sale; Jenny Wong Promoted to Associate Conductor

Single tickets for the Los Angeles Master Chorale's 2017/18 season are now on sale. The season opens on September 23 and continues through to June 2018 in Walt Disney Concert Hall with nine concert programs presented over this time. Tickets start at $29 and are available to purchase online from lamasterchorale.org, by phone from 213-972-7282, or in person from the box office at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion at The Music Center, of which the Master Chorale is a resident company. It will be the Los Angeles Master Chorale's 54th concert season and Grant Gershon's 17th season as the Kiki and David Gindler Artistic Director.

Lincoln Center's Mostly Mozart Festival , one of New York's premier summer performance series, kicks off its 51st season on July 25. Among the highlights in the first two weeks are a special opening concert led by Louis Langrée, Renée and Robert Belfer Music Director, featuring traditional and indigenous songs from Mozart's time; a choral presentation by Les Arts Florissants; and guest conductors Edward Gardner and Gianandrea Noseda; festival debuts by more than 10 artists, including Kit Armstrong, Janai Brugger, Jennifer Johnson Cano, S? Percussion, Beatrice Rana, Ksenija Sidorova, and the Young People's Chorus of New York City; and the New York premiere of David Lang's concerto for percussion, man made. Lembit Beecher Debuts SOPHIA'S FOREST 9/8- 9

Former Opera Philadelphia Composer in Residence Lembit Beecher debuts his latest work, Sophia's Forest, this September. This inventive chamber opera scored for five voices, custom-built sound sculptures, string quartet and percussion will premiere September 8 and 9 at 8 p.m. in the Black Box Theater at the URBN Center Annex at Drexel University, 3401 Filbert Street. Canadian playwright Hannah Moscovitch wrote the libretto. Tickets cost $25 for General Admission and $15 for Students and Seniors. Lincoln Center announced today that conductor Louis Langree, the Renee and Robert Belfer Music Director of the Mostly Mozart Festival, will graciously replace Gianandrea Noseda leading the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra on August 4 and 5. Maestro Noseda is regrettably unable to conduct as he recovers from back surgery.

National Sawdust Curator Anthony Roth Costanzo presents Re-Imagined Handel Cantata This July

This summer, countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo, a "bona-fide star" (New Yorker) of the Metropolitan Opera, Berlin Philharmonic, Lyric Opera of Chicago, San Francisco Opera, English National Opera, Canadian Opera Company, LA Opera, and Glyndebourne, returns as one of twelve curators to Brooklyn's artist-led National Sawdust (NS), where he will present and perform in a radical reimagining of Handel's dramatic cantata Aci, Galatea e Polifemo, a co-production of National Sawdust and San Francisco's Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra & Chorale (led by conductor Nicholas McGegan).

Rite of Summer will present free outdoor concerts Memorial Day weekend through August. Music Academy's 70th Anniversary Season Announced

The Music Academy of the West launches its 70th anniversary season on June 12. To celebrate this major milestone anniversary, the Festival will launch three important new initiatives - the Commissions and Premieres program, the Enterprise Awards program for alumni, and the Steinway Competition and tour - besides presenting the inaugural Evolution/Revolution Conference and the largest classical music event in the history of Santa Barbara, California, for which Alan Gilbert will lead the New York Philharmonic in the final performance of his eight-year tenure with the orchestra. This year's four Mosher Guest Artists, Matthew Aucoin, David Daniels, Renee Fleming, and Stephen Hough, will take part in major Academy performances and share their expertise through masterclasses. Taking place from June 12 through August 5, 2017, the 70th Season Festival will comprise more than 200 masterclasses, recitals, performances, and events in Santa Barbara, many of which are free to the public. Festival events will feature the Summer School's 137 fellows, drawn from 22 states and eight countries, as well as nearly 70 faculty and guest artists.
