Mama Foundation Brings ALIVE! to The Dempsey Theater in Harlem Tonight

The Mama Foundation for the Arts presents ALIVE!, a celebration of a generation in song, featuring a full company of performers who are age 55 and over. Conceived and written by Vy Higginsen and Ken Wydro (the creators of MAMA, I WANT TO SING), and directed by Mr. Wydro, ALIVE! returns to The Dempsey Theater in Harlem (127 W. 127 St.) this Fall -- performing Saturday matinees tonight, October 4th and October 18th, November 1st, 15th and 22nd at 2 PM.

'REVOLUTION IN THE ELBOW' Closes Tomorrow Night Off-Broadway

The world premiere musical REVOLUTION IN THE ELBOW… will conclude its Off-Broadway run Saturday evening, September 20th at the Minetta Lane Theatre. With book, music & lyrics by Ívar Pall Jonsson, the cast of REVOLUTION IN THE ELBOW… is headed by Tony Award winner Cady Huffman and Kate Shindle. Performances for this "sinister, politically spot-on new rock musical with roots in David Bowie and George Orwell" (NY Music Daily) began July 31st with the official opening on August 13th.

The world premiere of Walter Anderson's play ALMOST HOME, directed by Michael Parva and produced by The Directors Company, opens tonight, September 18, at the Acorn theatre on Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street). ALMOST HOME stars Joe Lisi (Take Me Out), James McCaffrey (FX's 'Rescue Me'), Jonny Orsini (The Nance), Brenda Pressley (The Lyons), and Tony Award-winner Karen Ziemba(Contact).

Jim Brochu Returns to Barrington Stage in CHARACTER MAN, Beginning Tonight

Barrington Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and Managing Director Tristan Wilson, welcomes the return of Drama Desk Award-winner Jim Brochu in his new show Character Man, following his wildly successful run of Zero Hour in 2011. A musical valentine celebrating the Golden Age of the American Musical, Character Man will be presented at BSC's St. Germain Stage at the Sydelle and Lee Blatt Performing Arts Center from tonight, September 18 through 28. The press opening is Saturday, September 20 at 7:30pm.

Amas Musical Theatre in association with North Haven Arts and Enrichment welcomes Broadway's Josh Grisetti (Broadway Bound, Enter Laughing), Alli Mauzey (Wicked, Cry-Baby), and Kevin Pariseau (Legally Blonde) to lead the cast of the New York Premiere of Red Eye of Love, a new musical (based on the 1961 play by Arnold Weinstein) with book and lyrics by Arnold Weinstein and John Wulp, music by Sam Davisand scenic design by renowned American artist Robert Indiana. Directed by Tony Award winner Ted Sperling, previews began at the Dicapo Opera Theatre (184 East 76th Street at Lexington Avenue) on August 27, 2014. Opening night is set for tonight, September 4 at 8pm. Performances will continue through September 28, 2014.
