Columbia University and Ambassador Jean Kennedy Smith have announced that A 24-Decade History of Popular Music: A Radical Fairy Realness Ritual by Taylor Mac and Matt Ray is the 2017 winner of the Edward M. Kennedy Prize for Drama Inspired by American History.

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) and Columbia University School of the Arts (Carol Becker, Dean of Faculty) have just announced Columbia@Roundabout, an initiative aimed at educating and developing the next generation of playwrights and theatre administrators, as both institutions celebrate their 50th anniversaries. No other collaborative partnership in the New York area brings together an esteemed Ivy League MFA program with a Tony Award- winning not-for-profit theatre. The initiative is made possible by a grant from the Tow Foundation.

More than 400 women -- leaders of industry, media, government and the arts -- attended the Citymeals-on-Wheels 28th Annual 'Power Lunch for Women' at The Plaza Hotel on November 21, 2014. This by-invitation-only benefit, emceed by Emmy-winning co-hosts of the 4th Hour of The Today Show Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb, raised $1.26 million -- enough to provide 196,000 meals for New York's homebound elderly. Third Year MFA Students in Acting at Columbia Will Be Eligible for Actors Equity Association Membership

The Theatre Program at Columbia University School of the Arts and the Classic Stage Company (CSC) announced an agreement to make all third-year MFA students in Acting at Columbia eligible to join Actors Equity Association (AEA). In addition, two MFA students in Stage Management each year will be eligible to join. This agreement makes The Oscar Hammerstein II Center for Theatre Studies at Columbia the first in New York to offer this invaluable bridge to the field.
