Diverse City Theater Company Presents RACE MUSIC 9/3 - 9/19

Diverse City Theater Company ('DCT') presents its 2009 Mainstage production of 'Race Music' by Warren Bodow, directed by DCT's Artistic Director Victor Lirio. Performances will begin Thursday, September 3rd @ 8PM thru Saturday, September 19th @ 8PM. 'Race Music' will play at Theatre Row's The Beckett Theatre located at 410 West 42nd Street in New York City and will feature Chris Ceraso*, Brandon Jones*, Penelope Lowder*, Kevin Kelleher* and Teresa Stephenson.

Image Entertainment, Inc. a leading independent licensee and distributor of entertainment programming in North America, announced today that it has acquired all North American rights to 'Dare,' starring Emmy Rossum ('The Phantom of the Opera'), Zach Gilford ('Friday Night Lights'), Ashley Springer ('Teeth'), Ana Gasteyer ('Mean Girls'), and Rooney Mara ('Nightmare on Elm Street'), along with Sandra Bernhard and Alan Cumming. Image will release the film in theaters this Fall, starting with New York and Los Angeles on November 13, 2009.

The masterful work of Gilbert and Sullivan returns to the Huntington Theatre Company stage for the conclusion of its 2008-2009 Season. Pirates! (or, Gilbert and Sullivan Plunder'd) transports the action of The Pirates of Penzance, the classic operetta about a Pirate King and his motley band; a dutiful pirate apprentice and his nurse; a modern Major-General and his virgin wards; and a Sergeant of Police and his skittish force to the Caribbean in a raucous and rowdy update complete with swordfights, sex appeal, and Sullivan's original music. Gordon Greenberg (Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris), Nell Benjamin (Legally Blonde, the Musical), and John McDaniel ('The Rosie O'Donnell Show') co-conceived the adaptation.

Casting has been announced for a 'first look' at select scenes and songs from the new musical adaptation of Katherine Anne Porter's classic novel, Ship of Fools, which will be presented May 12th to industry at a private residence in Manhattan. Pam Tate pens the book and score, and Tate and Erv Raible share duty on the lyrics. Hubert 'Tex' Arnold is the musical director and arranger. David Glenn Armstrong will direct the presentation.
