New York Theatre Barn Presents NYTB At The Duplex 8/31

On Monday, August 31st, New York Theatre Barn will present NYTB @ The Duplex, the monthly cabaret series that highlights new composers, lyricists, and performers.

The August installment of NYTB at The Duplex will feature works from two rising composers, Joshua H. Cohen, and Sam Willmott. Cohen's set is titled "Songs of Women, for Women" Willmott's set will feature songs from SCARLET TAKES A TUMBLE, his musical based on the YouTube phenomenon.

The evening will feature performances from LaDonna Burns, Brooke Ferris, Jessica Grové (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Was, The Wizard of Oz), Erica Jacob, Brandi Knox, Kate Margaret McCann, Ali Stroker, Sam Tedaldi, and Lydia Warr. Musical direction is by Matt Castle, and additional music is by Lavell Blackwell & Marisa Michelson.

The event takes place Monday, August 31st at 9:30pm at The Duplex Cabaret Theater (61 Christopher Street @ Seventh Avenue). There is a $10 cover plus 2-drink minimum.

New York Theatre Barn is a not-for-profit theatre company dedicated to the investigation, development, and advancement of new evocative works. New York Theatre Barn launched in April of 2007 and has since grown and evolved. In just two ambitious years, they have introduced a monthly springboard event for writers and performers (NYTB at The Duplex), presented Staged Readings (including the musical I Married Wyatt Earp with Tovah Feldshuh and directed by Tony-nominee Graciela Daniele) and produced a fully realized production (Wood at NYMF with Cady Huffman). Recent productions include the musical parody Hey, You Know What Movie Would Make a Good Musical? at the Julia Miles Theatre and Bridget Bailey's one-woman play Child of Hungry Times in the first annual Planet Connections Theatre Festival.
