To celebrate Stephen Sondheim's 80th birthday Melbourne Recital Centre and Magnormos are proud to present 'A Sondheim Triptych' to be performed at Elisabeth Murdoch Hall. Sondheim is widely regarded as the most influential writer in Broadway history, with major works including WEST SIDE STORY, GYPSY, A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM, COMPANY, SWEENEY TODD, A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC and INTO THE WOODS. This is an exclusive opportunity to see three works that are rarely performed, but greatly loved by Sondheim fans across the globe. BECKY'S NEW CAR will play at North Coast Rep beginning September 4 and running through September 26. The play was written by Steven Dietz and directed by David Ellenstein.

Saturday, September 25th is "World Wide Day of Play" at Riverside Park

The Meyer Rossabi Band brings it's hard rocking electric blues to New York City with a special performance at 'Take Back New York' at Sullivan Hall on Thursday, September 23rd. The Meyer Rossabi Band will feature guitarist Meyer Rossabi, Frankie Cheez on bass, and drummer Paul Kane. This special live performance will feature songs from Rossabi's CD Just A Little Taste of the Blues, as well as tracks from Rossabi's upcoming release, Blues Is The Color.

InProximity Theatre Company is proud to announce that Dorothy Lyman will be directing the upcoming production of SIGHT UNSEEN by Donald Margulies (Time Stands Still, Collected Stories, Brooklyn Boy, Dinner With Friends, God of Vengeance, Pitching to the Star, Nocturne, Luna Park, Found a Peanut, The Loman Family Picnic). The show will feature Laurie Schaefer, Jonathan Todd Ross, Brent Vimtrup, and Bryn Boice. Designers include James J. Fenton (scenic), Lisa Soverino (Lighting), Court Watson (Costumes), and Jeremy Lee (sound). The Production Stage Manager is Jasmin Sanchez.

Michael Riedel reports in the New York Post this morning that Al Pacino's star power has earned The Merchant of Venice the winners spot for the fall's highest advance generating show. The production, which opens at the Broadhurst Theatre on November 7, 2010, has reportedly taken in approximately $4M, beating out all incoming fall plays and musicals.

Donald Margulies's Pulitzer Prize-winning Dinner With Friends at Olney Theatre Center has been extended to Sunday, October 3. The Washington Post calls the Olney production an 'exacting, unsettling drama.' The Frederick News-Post declares, 'Dinner With Friends shines on Olney Theatre Center's black box stage.'

Second Stage Theatre (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director) has announced that Zach Braff, Bobby Cannavale, Sutton Foster, and Ari Graynor will co-star in the world premiere comedy TRUST, written by Paul Weitz, directed by Peter DuBois. Mr. Weitz returns to Second Stage Theatre, where his plays Privilege and Show People premiered in 2005 and 2006, respectively. Directed by Peter DuBois, who staged Second Stage's acclaimed production of Becky Shaw, TRUST will begin previews on Friday, July 23 at Second Stage Theatre (305 West 43rd street) and officially open on Thursday, August 12. The production runs through September 5.
