Dallas Summer Musicals, Inc. (DSM) announces the appointment of Kenneth T. Novice as its President. Novice will begin his position on May 1, 2017 with an immediate plan of action to continue the work that David Hyslop, DSM's Interim Managing Director, started last year of instilling stability and sustainability for the organization.

Producers Paul Blake and Sony/ATV Music Publishing announce that the Tony & Grammy Award-winning Broadway hit Beautiful-The Carole King Musical , about the early life and career of the legendary and groundbreaking singer/songwriter, will make its Milwaukee premiere at the Marcus Center for on week only on June 20-25.

Me and My Girl, a splashy musical about a British bloke who discovers he's nobility, and The Royale, a powerful play by Miami native Marco Ramirez, based on the first black boxing champion, took their respective places in South Florida theatrical history as Best Musical and Best Play on Monday, April 3rd  when the winners of the 41st annual Carbonell Awards were announced. The lavish ceremony was held at Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale, and   featured performances from each show nominated for Best Musical.

An evening of revelry and friendly rivalry is in the cards for the theatre community when Broadway Bets, Broadway's official poker tournament, returns for its third edition on Monday, May 15, 2017. The event is produced by and benefits Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

ASU Gammage has announced its historic 2017-2018 Desert Schools Federal Credit Union Broadway Across America - Arizona season. The season is anchored by HAMILTON and is packed with award-winning musicals, classics and the newest hits from Broadway.

Broadway In Boston has unveiled the upcoming 2017-2018 Lexus Broadway Season at its annual spring Announcement event this evening.  Eight theatrical productions take center stage at the Boston Opera House beginning next fall including the previously announced production of HAMILTON.  Over 1000 people from around the city gathered to celebrate today's announcement including Broadway In Boston's Season ticket holders, group leaders, arts and business leaders, city officials, partners from around the city, sponsors and the Boston media.  Highlights from the day included video messages from WAITRESS composer and six time Grammy nominee Sara Bareilles, seven time Grammy Award winner Gloria Estefan and Emilio Estefan composers of ON YOUR FEET!, the cast of the National Tour of HAMILTON and live performances from cast members of FUN HOME, DISNEY'S ALADDIN, WAITRESS and LOVE NEVER DIES.

As I've stated before, theater should speak to people. This production of Cabaret spoke volumes to me and feels particularly poignant in today's political climate.  

Chicago Shakespeare Theater  (CST) continues its summer tradition of vibrant family programming with Madagascar - A Musical Adventure, directed and choreographed by Matt Raftery at the Theater's home on Navy Pier, July 13-August 27, 2017. Based on the DreamWorks Animation motion picture, this wild and wacky new musical is written by Emmy Award-winner Kevin Del Aguila with original music and lyrics by George Noriega and Joel Someillan.
