WEST SIDE STORY Wins GRAMMY for Best Show Album

The new Broadway cast album of 'West Side Story' has picked up the 2010 Grammy for Best Musical Show Album. The announcement was made during the Grammy Awards' pre-telecast ceremony held at the Los Angeles Convention Center on Sunday, January 31. The creative team behind the 'West Side Story' new Broadway cast album is Leonard Bernstein, composer; Stephen Sondheim, lyricist. David Caddick & David Lai produced the album which was released by Masterworks Broadway.

Producers Cameron Mackintosh and Thomas Schumacher are pleased to announce that Caroline Sheen will reprise the role of 'Mary Poppins' in the North American Tour of MARY POPPINS, after originating the title role in the critically acclaimed UK Tour. Sheen replaces Ashley Brown, who will play her final performance in Los Angeles at The Ahmanson Theatre on Sunday, February 7. Sheen joins the production in Tempe, AZ where performances begin at ASU Gammage Auditorium on Thursday, February 11 for a limited engagement of 3 weeks through Sunday, February 28, 2010. The opening night is Friday, February 12 at 7:30pm.
RIALTO CHATTER: A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE in Extension Talks?

According to a report from the New York Times, the Broadway revival of A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE may extend past it's closing date of April 4. A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE is housed at the Cort theater, which is scheduled to house the revival of August Wilson's FENCES starting April 14, which would mean BRIDGE would most likely have to transfer theatres to stay open. Executives involved in BRIDGE said moving would be costly, as would trying to arrange for FENCES to move, as most Broadway houses are booked for the spring as of now.

The current touring cast of Spring Awakening will present a cabaret evening entitled 'Spring It On' in Rochester on February 11th. The concert will be presented at Multi-use Community Cultural Center (MuCCC) in Rochester, NY.
