Main Street Theater to Continue 2015-16 Season with HARRIET THE SPY

Main Street Theater continues its 2015-2016 Theater for Youth season with Harriet the Spy. Based on Louise Fitzhugh's classic written in 1964, the play tells the story of curious and intelligent Harriet M. Welsch, an 11-year-old determined to become a writer - who gets herself into a fair amount of mischief!  Main Street's production is set in the 70's with super fun costumes and music.

What do you get when you have a cerebral 4th grader, spoiled little brother and a turtle named Dribble? It's the popular Judy Blume book TALES OF A FOURTH GRADE NOTHING on stage adapted by Bruce Mason. The Main St. Theatre's TYA performance introduced a room full of inquisitive kids and adults to the work of Judy Blume. This best-selling children's book has inspired and entertained readers for 43 years. Blume is the author of 21 children's books, 7 young adult novels, and 4 adult novels. Saying Blume is an experienced writer would be an understatement. Blume's unique voice and youthful writing style bring forth great stories that transcend time.

Main Street Theater is closing their excellent 38th season with the wildly entertaining, often hilarious, and deeply moving CLOSE UP SPACE by Molly Smith Metzler. The zany dramadey is a Susan Smith Blackburn Prize Finalist and had its world premiere in 2011 in a Manhattan Theatre Club staging at New York City Center Stage I. This premiere production received mixed reviews that all seemed to get too caught up on the idea that the premise isn't entirely original.

The play tells the beloved story of Meg Murray and, her little brother, Charles Wallace's journey through time and space in search of their father. The play, like the novel, examines the power of self-discovery and courage.

The quasi-edgy play tells the story of six people whose lives are somewhat enmeshed and the lingerie shop that several of them frequent, all the while using lingerie and the hunting of large game animals as metaphors that ask the audience to look beyond the exterior and to the interior of themselves and others.
