Adam Green and Neal Bledsoe to Star in Stephen Wadsworth's FIGARO PLAYS at McCarter, 4/1-5/4

He may not have money, he may not have power...but where there's a wit, there's a way. Figaro is a comic chameleon unmatched across history: clever, insubordinate, restless, lustful, agent of chaos, champion of love, jack of all trades, and man for all seasons. For more than two hundred years, this wily valet has spoken words that have incited revolution and performed deeds that make audiences fall in love with him time and again.

BWW Reviews: Stark Naked Theatre Company's THE GOOD THIEF is Enthralling

In May of 2011 Santry Rush, directed by John Tyson, presented the Houston premiere of Conor McPherson's THE GOOD THIEF at the Mosaic Theatre Company. Since then, the duo has been seeking an opportunity to bring the show inside the loop for another staging, and was granted that opportunity by Stark Naked Theatre Company, who is currently producing the Houston professional premiere of the riveting one-man show in repertory with Brian Friel's FAITH HEALER.

Stark Naked Theatre Company's THE GOOD THIEF Opens Tonight

Following the regional premiere of All Girls, Stark Naked Theatre Company's third season continues with two critically acclaimed Irish plays-Faith Healer and The Good Thief-performed in repertory and directed by the incomparable John Tyson. This special two-play rotation opened on January 24th with the Houston premiere of Faith Healer, a Tony award-winning play written by legendary Irish playwright Brian Friel.

BWW Reviews: Stark Naked Theatre Company's FAITH HEALER Creates Skeptics and Believers

When it comes to theatre in Houston, I find that Kim Tobin and Philip Lehl, Co-Executive Directors at Stark Naked Theatre Company, only program plays that everyone should see. Thus, when they announced Brian Friel's FAITH HEALER, a play I was unfamiliar with, I began to immerse myself in any scrap of material I could find about the play, knowing it was a show I ought to know. After catching the final preview performance earlier this week, I felt like the boat must have passed me by. Generally regarded as a masterpiece, Brian Friel's FAITH HEALER didn't impress me in the ways that it seemingly bowls everyone else over.
