New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) presents HADESTOWN, written by celebrated singer-songwriter Anais Mitchell and developed with and directed by the inventive two-time OBIE award-winning director Rachel Chavkin (Three Pianos; Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812). Drama Desk, Tony®, and Emmy® Award nominee and Theater World Award and NAACP Image Award winner Vanessa Williams (Into The Woods, The Trip to Bountiful, 'Ugly Betty') and Drama Desk, Tony®, Emmy, Golden Globe, and Drama League Award Nominee and SAG & TV Land Award winner Matthew Morrison (Finding Neverland, Hairspray, The Light in the Piazza, 'Glee') just announced the nominations for the 61st Annual Drama Desk Awards.

Among this year's nominees for Outstanding Musical Production by a Large Theater are WAITRESS and NATASHA, PIERRE, AND THE  GREAT COMET OF 1812, both at American Repertory Theatre. Tony winner Jessie Mueller and Denee Benton also each received nods for their respective performances.

The 20th Annual Independent Reviewers of New England (IRNE) Awards were held on April 11 at the Holiday Inn Boston/Brookline. Founded by Beverly Creasey of the Journal Newspapers and Larry Stark of the TheaterMirror in 1997, the IRNE Awards recognize the extraordinary wealth of talent in the Boston theatre community.

In response to popular demand, Labyrinth Theater Company extends the New York premiere of The Way West by Mona Mansour to April 10. The production, which opened on March 16, is directed by Labyrinth Artistic Director Mimi O'Donnell and features Labyrinth Company Member and Obie award-winner Deirdre O'Connell. The Way West is a new, offbeat comedy about life and debt. The production must close on the 10th.

The Independent Reviewers of New England (IRNE) today announced the nominees for the 20th Annual IRNE Awards, which honors the best of the previous year's actors, directors, choreographers, designers and companies across the full spectrum of large, mid-size and fringe theater companies.

The Old Globe's world premiere of Anna Ziegler's THE LAST MATCH, directed by Gaye Taylor, stars real-life fiances Patrick J. Adams (Tim; SAG Award-nominated star of TV's 'Suits,' Garland Award for Bill Cain's play Nine Circles) and Troian Bellisario (Mallory; star of TV's 'Pretty Little Liars,' Equivocation and Farragut North at Geffen Playhouse). The show will run in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center, now through March 13, 2016.
