BWW Interview: Gilbert Smith, President of the Montalban, Talks Golden Eagle Awards

I marvel at the work of the Montalban Theatre. I have noticed how the theatre has really maintained itself over the years and improved so much with all the Latino events and concerts with an emphasis on supporting all of our talented performers regardless of race, religion or creed. We are a community and need to reflect that in all we do. When I asked to speak with Gilbert Smith, President of the Montalban Company, LLC, he enthusiastically provided the following answers to our questions.

Ahead of the Olivier Awards 2019 with Mastercard, Special Recognition Awards were today presented to Bendy Ashfield, (Royal Opera House Apprenticeships Manager), Vivien Wallace (The Old Vic's former Executive Director of Development) and Linford Hudson (long-serving London Palladium Follow Spot Operator), celebrating their outstanding contributions to British theatre. Family members of fellow recipient Bob Thomas, a renowned theatre accountant who died in late 2018, collected his award on his behalf.

Theater by the Book Presents FORTUNE Tonight

On Today, June 3, Miners Foundry Cultural Center and Sierra Stages present 'Fortune' by Deborah Zoe Laufer, the next installment of Theater by The Book, a series of informal play readings for the community. Bob Thomas directs the two-person cast of Monica McKey and Stephen Wellman.  The reading begins at 7:30 PM and there is a suggested donation of $10 at the door.

Custom House Maritime Museum Presents Buoy Launch, 9/9

Monday morning, September 9, at 10 AM, Senator Andrea Stillman and Mayor Daryl Finizio of New London are the guests of honor as the New London Maritime Society--Custom House Maritime Museum officially christens two eight-foot, shallow-water, marine buoys just installed Sunday at the Bank Street museum. The event coincides with the start of Connecticut Maritime History and Heritage Week. The Buoy Launch takes place Monday, September 9 at 10 AM in front of the Custom House Maritime Museum, 150 Bank Street, New London.
