Most of ESP's recent outings have been stories written directly for the stage. For our January 2014 reading (the last to be held at our beloved NSCC before we move to ACT), we turn to a master playwright's take on (apparently) undramatic material - John Van Druten's adaptation of Christopher Isherwood's Berlin Stories, I Am a Camera.

UPDATE: A production spokesperson has confirmed to BroadwayWorld that former Pussycat Doll Nicole Sherzinger will not be joining Broadway's PIPPIN, as the New York Daily News reported earlier today.

CHICAGO, the 2003 Academy award-winning movie first thrilled audiences on the Broadway stage in 1975 with an original collaboration by the classic duo John Kander and Fred Ebb. The legendary Bob Fosse directed and choreographed the razzle-dazzle musical that went on to an even more successful revival in 1997, winning six Tony Awards.

Roger O. Hirson and Stephen Schwartz's Tony Award winning musical comedy Pippin, directed by Tony Award winner Diane Paulus, is currently playing at the Music Box Theatre. In the video below, the shows acrobats get a shining moment as they show what they've got to the Act 1 finale, 'Morning Glow.'

Four-time Tony Award nominee Tovah Feldshuh will play her final performance in the role on Sunday, January 19th. PIPPIN is now playing at the Music Box Theatre (239 West 45th Street).

Happy Birthday, Graciela Daniele! As a performer, Daniele made her Broadway debut in What Makes Sammy Run? in 1964. She studied with Martha Graham and Merce Cunningham while working with such luminaries as Bob Fosse, Agnes de Mille, and Michael Bennett, who hired her to assist him with Follies in 1971. Her first credit as a full-fledged choreographer was the 1979 revival of The Most Happy Fella. She has directed and/or choreographed several musicals of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, including, most recently, The Glorious Ones (2007) and Dessa Rose (2005) at the Off-Broadway Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater at Lincoln Center. She has directed and/or choreographed several musicals of Michael John LaChiusa Off-Broadway, most recently Bernarda Alba (2006) and Little Fish (2003).
