The Crazy Coqs has announced its July 2014 lineup. Details below!

The Cabaret's 2014 Summer/Fall season kicks off July 11th with star of Broadway, Glee and 30 Rock, Cheyenne Jackson in his acclaimed show, Cheyenne Jackson's Cocktail Hour: Music of the Mad Men Era.

In this week's edition, we caught up with Helene Yorke, who is starring as 'Olive' in Bullets Over Broadway- currently playing at the St. James Theatre.

In celebration of one year since the release of her debut CD entitled 'Except Sometimes' on Concord Records, Molly Ringwald who launched her CD release at Rockwell last year and has since performed over 150 concerts in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and widely across the United States in major Concert Halls, Performing Arts Centers and Jazz Festivals. Back by popular demand Ringwald will perform live in Hollywood for three Tuesdays to include June 17th; July 1st; and July 15th at Rockwell Table & Stage.

Plaid Bird Productions in celebration of Blossom Dearie's 90th Birthday (April 28th, 1924) will present Jaye Maynard in 'Bird Amongst the Blossom-A Tribute to the First Blossom Dearie Songbook' on Sunday, April 27th at The Hour Glass Tavern in a Jazz Brunch 1pm, show at 2pm and Monday, April 28th at Don't Tell Mama. House opens 8:45; show at 9:15pm.

Having written a plethora of words about Marissa Mulder over the past couple of years, I had planned on relegating a review of her mid-November, two-show run at the Cafe Carlyle to a relatively short critique in my seasonal compilation column (due to post a day or two or three before Santa arrives, for those keeping score at home). But once I got started I went way over my self-imposed word count for such things and decided it should be broken out into this stand-alone review. Speaking of 'breakout,' although the first known use of the phrase 'breakout year' came 35 years ago, it has become the standard expression in sports or entertainment when referring to someone who has become a sudden or smashing success, especially in comparison to past efforts. If anyone in the world of New York cabaret could be said to have had a 'breakout year' in 2013, it would have to be Marissa Mulder. And this angelic young woman-in voice, looks, and personality-hasn't even hit 30 yet.

Tonight, November 20th, the Blue Note Emerging Artist Series presents Shoshana Bush. The series is designed to give young up and coming musicians the opportunity to perform at the renowned Jazz venue as an opening act for jazz legends. Shoshana Bush performs one show from 6:30 - 7:30pm as an opening act for Jane Monheit. Attending Bush's performance will provide access to Jane Monheit's 8:00PM set at no additional cost. Accompanying Bush are Isamu McGregor (piano) and Brian Holtz (bass).
