The Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University announces Executive Director Brett Batterson has accepted the role of president and chief executive officer of the Memphis Development Foundation (MDF). The foundation operates The Orpheum, consisting of the Orpheum Theatre and the Halloran Centre for Performing Arts & Education.
THE MEETING* hosted by Justin Sayre, the acclaimed comedy/variety show, will return to JOE'S PUB at The Public Theater on Sunday, September 27 at 9:30 PM to open the Fall 2015 Season. The September 2015 show will feature a celebration of Whitney Houston, with special guests Darius de Haas, Natalie Joy Johnson, Jaime Cepero, Inyang Bassey and others to be announced. Tracy Stark serves as the show's Music Director.
The Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University's Auxiliary Board brings "Old Chicago" back to the National Historic Landmark Theatre with the fifth annual The Devil's Ball, Friday, Oct. 2 from 7:30 - 11 p.m. The lobby of the iconic Auditorium Theatre is the backdrop for this unique gathering for its 300 expected guests. Revelers are treated to fabulous food, entertainment, theatre tours and more, as they raise funds and generate awareness for the preservation of the Auditorium Theatre as well as the Auditorium's diverse educational programming. This year's new addition is a surprise live performance. Tickets are $65 through Friday, Sept. 18 at midnight; $75 through Thursday, Oct. 1 at midnight and are available online at AuditoriumTheatre.org. 54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presents Elaine Dame in Something to Live For: The Strayhorn/Ellington Collaboration on Thursday, July 16th at 9:30 PM. Jazz vocalist Elaine Dame celebrates the collaboration of two of America's most innovative and exciting jazz icons: Billy Strayhorn and Duke Ellington. On this, the centennial of Strayhorn's birth, Ms. Dame will commemorate and memorialize the magic of their 29 year partnership.

Gone are the controlled vibrato, upper range, emotional translucence, femininity, and the playfulness of a purveyor of American Songbook/pop. Prepare for a terse, tensile, alto-voiced, punk chick (including shag hairdo) with a foot in rudderless jazz. There's nothing tentative in this raw, almost tone poem-like performance. Oberlin commits herself to her choices.
