Dance Company KasheDance Presents Toronto Premiere of FACING HOME Tonight

TORONTO (October 28, 2015) - When did you first fall in love? Kevin A. Ormsby, Artistic Director of Toronto's KasheDance, and Christopher Walker, a Jamaican choreographer working out of the U.S.A., join forces for FACING Home: Love & Redemption, a powerful contemporary dance production that investigates the global impact of Bob Marley's music - its expression of humanity's struggle and its inspiration toward love, redemption and hope - and contrasts it to the active, deep-rooted homophobia in Jamaican/West Indian Culture. The Toronto premiere of this bold new work featuring eleven performers runs Today, November 26 to Sunday, November 29 at the Aki Studio Theatre in the Daniels Spectrum arts hub in the revitalizedRegent Park area of Toronto. The two choreographers aim to engage communities in conversation about homophobia using movement, music and poetry to access ideas of liberation and highlight the blurred lines between love, survival and choice.

Fulton Theatre's ELF Runs Through January 3

The Fulton Theatre kicks off the holiday season with the musical comedy and treat for the entire family, Elf, November 17th through January 3rd. As 'Buddy' says in the script, 'The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear,' there are many joyful tunes throughout the production, including 'SparkleJollyTwinkleJingley,' 'A Christmas Song,' 'The Story of Buddy the Elf,' and more!

Jones is joined by his 95-year-old mother-in-law Dora Amelan, and her son Bjorn Amelan for a discussion about Dora's gripping story of survival during the Holocaust and how this became the inspiration for Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company's recent work, Analogy/Dora: Tramontane. This program takes place tonight, November 4, 2015, at 7:00 p.m. at the Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust, 36 Battery Place in Lower Manhattan.

Broadway-Bound MONSOON WEDDING Musical Gets Winter Lab in NYC; Choreographer Bill T. Jones Joins Creative Team

Bollywood is moving closer to Broadway! The new musical adaptation of the 2001 film MONSOON WEDDING is getting another developmental lab this winter, according to an Equity casting notice. The show had a private industry reading last December and will return to New York, running January 25 through February 25, 2016, with two new additions to its creative team.

Ohio State's Department of Dance MFA Concert Set for This Weekend

The Department of Dance at The Ohio State University presents of existence: and ways of being, featuring choreographers Noelle Bohaty, s.lumbert and Brandon Whited. The MFA concert is a series of performances and presentations created by the members of the 3rd year class of MFA students in dance as the culminating projects of their graduate studies. The concert will be performed at 8 p.m. tonight, Oct. 29; Friday, Oct. 30; and Saturday, Oct. 31. A matinee will be shown at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31.

Opera Philadelphia to Present Annual 12-Day Urban Opera Festival in September 2017

Twelve days, seven operatic happenings, six venues across the city, three world premieres, and one superstar Festival Artist: set to launch in September 2017, O – Opera Philadelphia's new annual season-opening festival – represents a radical new way to experience opera. As Daniel K. Meyer, M.D., Chairman of the Board of Opera Philadelphia, David B. Devan, General Director & President, and Annie Burridge, Managing Director, announced today, the new festival will open the company's season each fall, drawing together some of opera's most sought-after creative and performing artists for an immersion in the new American opera and innovative stagings of the classics for which Opera Philadelphia – the only American finalist for the 2015 International Opera Award for Accessibility – is fast becoming known. Opera Philadelphia will also continue to present three additional productions each spring, making it the only U.S. opera company to open an annual season with a dynamic festival.
