It is with a mix of both excitement and sadness that Nightwood Theatre's Board of Directors announces the departure of Artistic Director Kelly Thornton. Kelly will be stepping down from her position in order to take on the role of Artistic Director of Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre in Winnipeg. Royal MTC is Canada's oldest regional theatre, and produces 10 plays on two stages, a regional tour of Manitoba and Northwest Ontario, a wide range of youth programming and two annual festivals: the Master Playwright Festival, and North America's second-largest Fringe, the Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival.

In our penultimate season before our 40th anniversary, we have assembled an ambitious lineup of some of the most dynamic female voices working in theatre today. Nightwood is proud to support and partner with an ever-burgeoning community of artists and like-minded arts organizations to develop high-caliber contemporary theatre.

In alignment with Crow's Theatre's 2018/19 Season Announcement, Nightwood Theatre is pleased to announce its production of Grace by Jane Doe in January 2019.

Mouthpiece is a heart-wrenching and humorous journey into the female psyche. The performance is a virtuosic display of physical ingenuity and vocal orchestration. In the wake of her mother's death, Mouthpiece follows one woman, for one day, as she tries to find her voice. Interweaving a cappella harmony, dissonance, text, and physicality, two performers express the inner conflict that exists within one modern woman's head.

Did you ever wait for that moment in your life, where you figure it all out? You overcome all your challenges.

'Snow White' is a favorite fairy tale for youngsters who become enchanted by the story of the beautiful young girl who meets up with seven little people in the forest. The Media Theatre has a new musical version of the story playing every Sunday at Noon from October 1 through November 5.

Feeling the urge to let your imagination run wild, your spirit to soar or to just leave the world in which you live and go on an adventure? Sounds like a trip to the theater is in order! Luckily, companies all over the Volunteer State have been hard at work, creating new productions to transform and to transport, shows that will entertain you this summer.

Opening tonight at the Arts Center of Cannon County in Woodbury is the newest iteration of the beloved musical Annie, directed by Matthew Hayes Hunter and featuring an all-star cast of actors bringing the show to life. Featuring songs that have become musical theater standards since the show's premiere on Broadway in 1977 - including "Tomorrow," "Maybe," "Easy Street" and "Hard Knock Life."

A second performance of 'Brahms and the Schumanns,' narrated by Alan Alda, has been added to the schedule of the 2017 Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival. This program, which opens the festival, will now be performed on July 30 and 31.

At first it was unconscious, then by design: the 34th season of the Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival, Long Island's longest-running classical music festival, has something of a water theme.

Short Story Theatre presents an evening of warm, wise and wonderful true stories on Thursday, April 6 at 7:30 p.m. at Miramar Bistro, 301 Waukegan Ave. in Highwood.  Tickets are $10 at the door. In its 13th year, the Opera Grand Rapids Collegiate Vocal Competition provides an opportunity for West Michigan's finest budding vocal artists to compete in a professionally-judged competition for cash prizes.

On Sunday, November 20, 2016 at 4pm, the Westchester Chamber Music Society will present the acclaimed Amerigo Trio in a concert of Schubert, Bach, Sibelius, and Beethoven at the Congregation Emanu-El of Westchester in Rye, NY (125 Westchester Avenue East).

'The flutist Marya Martin's festival brings an elite roster of chamber musicians to the ever-desirable vacation spot,' said The New Yorker of last year's Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival. This summer, the 33rd season of Long Island's longest-running classical music festival comprises 14 concerts from July 31 to August 28, featuring the signature mix of renowned and up-and-coming artists and classic and new music that has made it one of the most noteworthy summer music festivals in the country.

In our 36th season we continue to produce work that confronts some of the most relevant issues of our times. From shattering the culture of shame in gender-based violence (Nirbhaya), to exposing the pitfalls of Canada's refugee system (Refuge), from unearthing the buried history of slaves in Salem (Obeah Opera), to the clash of idealism and bureaucracy (The Public Servant), the issues raised in these plays will ignite a compelling dialogue with our audience.
