HERE and BMP Announce Inaugural PROTOTYPE Festival Lineup, 1/9-19

Beth Morrison Projects (BMP) and HERE announce programming for the inaugural PROTOTYPE: Opera/Theatre/Now, running January 9-19, 2013, in New York City. This two-week festival, distilling the curatorial visions of artistic directors Kristin Marting (of HERE), Beth Morrison (of BMP), and Kim Whitener (of HERE), features visionary music-theatre and opera-theatre works by pioneering artists from NYC and around the world. PROTOTYPE is unique in providing a permanent theatrical home for the presentation of such quality productions, spotlighting the high-caliber creations of an exciting new generation of composers and collaborators, with a focus on chamber-sized works.

Cellist Maya Beiser to Perform ELSEWHERE at BAM Festival, 10/17 - 20

Cellist Maya Beiser, described by the Boston Globe as having "virtuoso chops, rock-star charisma, and an appetite for pushing her instrument to the edge of avant-garde adventurousness," will see the New York premiere of her new production, ELSEWHERE

Brooke Bloom, Fred Arsenault, et al. to Star in A.R.T.'s MARIE ANTOINETTE

The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) has just announced the Company for David Adjmi's new play, Marie Antoinette, directed by Rebecca Taichman, with choreography by Karole Armitage, in a co-production with Yale Repertory Theatre. The production begins previews on Saturday, September 1, and runs through Saturday, September 29, with press opening on Friday, September 7 at 7:00pm.

LIVE FROM LINCOLN CENTER Creator John Goberman to Leave in June

According to the New York Times, Live From Lincoln Center's creator John Goberman will depart from the show at the end of June. AFter he leaves, Goberman 'will continue to stage concert galas, video productions and symphonic cinema events, in which orchestral scores are performed live to films.' A replacement has not yet been named.

Mimi Bessette Joins the Cast of WOODY SEZ at A.R.T.

The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) today announced that Broadway actress Mimi Bessette is joining the cast of Woody Sez, a musical tapestry of the American folk hero's life and songs, devised by David M. Lutken with Nick Corley, performed by David M. Lutken, Darcie Deaville, Helen Jean Russell, and Andy Teirstein, directed by Nick Corley. Performances run through this weekend at the Loeb Drama Center, 64 Brattle Street, Cambridge.

Playwrights Foundation Launches Des Voix...Found in Translation Festival, Now thru 5/27

Playwrights Foundation and Cultural Services of the Consulate General of France/SF is spear-heading a major new international exchange project, Des Voix...Found In Translation, that supports the translation of vanguard French and American Playwrights and promotes their work to audiences on both sides of the Atlantic. The San Francisco festival features translations of new plays by three emerging playwrights working in France today. Plays by Marion Aubert (pink picture), Nathalie Fillion (blue picture), and Samuel Gallet (yellow picture) will be performed in English during a Festival, scheduled from today, May 25 through May 27, 2012, in a producing partnership with Z Space, a theater located in San Francisco's vibrant, cutting-edge Mission District and Deborah Taylor/FireMused Productions, LLC.

Brooklyn Academy of Music Announces 2012 Next Wave Festival Lineup

Joseph V. Melillo, executive producer of the Brooklyn Academy of Music, today announced programming for the 2012 Next Wave Festival, in its 30th year. The festival runs from September 5 to January 19 and comprises dance, theater, music, music-theater, nouveau cirque, film, and multimedia events.

The American Repertory Theater production Woody Sez, a musical tapestry of the American folk hero's life and songs, is to be simulcast live - the first live outdoor simulcast of a theater production outside of New York. The simulcast will be presented in collaboration with Harvard University and the American Repertory at The Plaza next to the Science Center on the Harvard campus, on Thursday, May 17th.
