4th Wall Theatre Kicks Off 2016-17 Season With TRUE WEST
by Nora Dominick
- Aug 2, 2016
4th Wall Theatre Company (formerly Stark Naked Theatre Company) opens its 2016-2017 season on September 9th with Sam Shepard's Tony-nominated masterpiece, True West-a modern American classic exploring themes of sibling rivalry, art as commerce, and what it means to 'be a man.' Like a runaway train, this dark comedy about two brothers and their mutual resentment takes audiences on a thrill ride into the dark side of the human psyche, with laughs and unexpected moments of revelation along the way. In its world premiere, the San Francisco Chronicle noted that True West is "clear, funny, naturalistic. It's also opaque, terrifying, surrealistic. If that sounds contradictory, you're on to one aspect of Shepard's winning genius-the ability to make you think your watching one thing while at the same time he's presenting another."
BWW Review: LEADER OF THE PACK Zooms Into Downriver Actors Guild
by Anton Anderssen
- Aug 1, 2016
The Downriver Actors Guild will be taking a step back in time when the tunes were 'Outta Site' and 'Going Steady' was a teenager's biggest concern. It's the 60's, and Leader of the Pack is sure to please. Leader of the pack celebrates the life and times of Ellie Greenwich, and her doo wop sounds that skyrocketed to the top of the 60's music charts. This high-spirited show sponsored by Biker Bob's Harley Davidson of Taylor will take you down memory lane with some of the sixties most popular hits including, Chapel of Love,' 'Da Do Ron Ron,' 'Be My Baby,' 'Hanky Panky,' Do Wah Diddy,' 'And Then He Kissed Me' and, of course, the title song 'Leader of the Pack.' Some of the most talented young adults in the downriver area will grace the stage to bring this story to life.

The fans, all Scholastic employees and their children, flooded onto the street reading from a favorite Harry Potter book and stopping traffic in the busy SoHo area. At the culmination of the estimated two-and-a-half minute event, the fans lowered their books and raised up paddles showing the cover of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts One and Two, drawing cheers throughout the neighborhood. BWW Review: Holy Ogre! SHREK THE MUSICAL Is A Blast!
by Herbert Paine
- Jul 20, 2016
Arizona Broadway Theatre's staging of SHREK THE MUSICAL exceeds expectations. Mace Archer has gone beyond the norm, directing something more than a lively and exhilarating show. He's fashioned a distinctive and incredibly intimate and engaging experience that speaks with authenticity to audience members young and older. Archer is aided and abetted in this theatrical coup by a gangbuster cast, featuring the awesome foursome of Jason Simon as the 'big stupid ugly ogre,' Liz Fallon as Fiona, Deonte Warren as Donkey, and David Brumfield as Lord Farquaad.
