“We should not do a show more often,” quipped Ryan Silverman as he an Jill Paice took in the appreciative applause of the Town Hall audience before even singing a note of the Broadway musical they were expected to star in this season, Rebecca.  Host Scott Siegel had just recapped the story of the show's numerous delays, fake investors, missing funds and the fact that an estimated 150 theatre professions had either turned down work or stopped seeking immediate employment because of their expectation to be working on Broadway by Christmas.

The only trouble with these 90-minute musicals that start at 7pm is that I really can't get all that enthused over the big 8:15 number.

BroadwayWorld.com has learned that a new presentation of the production is taking place today, to hopefully line up additional investors for the show. In the cast of today's reading are Josh Grisetti, LaChanze, Emily Skinner, Sierra Boggess, Shuler Henlsey, Richard Kind, Amanda Kloots-Larsen, Caroline O'Connor and David Pittu.

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) has just announced a two week extension of the American Premiere of Nick Payne's If There Is I Haven't Found It Yet, directed by Michael Longhurst. The limited run, which was originally scheduled to run through November 25 only, will take a 12 day break before resuming performances on December 8 and play two additional weeks through December 23.

The national tour of the five-time Tony Award®-nominated Broadway musical ROCK OF AGES, a feel-good love story told through '80s hit songs by iconic rockers and glam metal bands such as Journey, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Foreigner, Pat Benatar, Whitesnake, and many more, will make its Miami premiere October 9 - 14, 2012 at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County. ROCK OF AGES opens the Broadway in Miami 2012-2013 subscription season presented by Bank of America.

Today we are talking to a charismatic leading man who has made quite a mark on Broadway over the last few seasons, having participated in the original Broadways casts of Kander & Ebb's THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS (for which he received a Tony nomination for Best Actor), Green Day's AMERICAN IDIOT (as Favorite Son) and, most recently, the rapturously-received revival of THE GERSHWINS' PORGY & BESS (as Jake), which won the 2012 Tony Award for Best Revival - the multi-talented Joshua Henry. Discussing the creation, casting, rehearsal and reception of each of the aforementioned musicals, as well as working with his collaborators on said projects - John Kander, Susan Stroman, Billie Joe Armstrong, Tom Kitt, Michael Mayer, Audra McDonald, Norm Lewis, Diane Paulus and more included - Henry illustrates the process of bringing the three wildly different entities to the stage and how he shaped his disparate characters within them. Additionally, Henry also discusses his role in the original production of Lin-Manuel Miranda's IN THE HEIGHTS and that Tony-winning Best Musical's inception and legacy. Plus, Henry expounds on his new self-composed family-friendly musical, AMIGO DUENDE, directed by Luis Salgado, which begins performances October 5 at El Musio Del Barrio and also shares the inspiration behind it. Even if you have heard the Tuskegee Airmen's story before, I urge you to take a chance on this exceptional production. It's heart-felt, challenging, and certainly well-presented. Ford's has definitely started its 2012-2013 season out with a bang.

If you're feeling nostalgic for some classic 80s rock and your Van Halen albums just aren't cutting it, then throw on your favorite concert tee, put your lighter in your pocket, and get your butt to The Long Center. To borrow from Brett Michaels and Poison, ROCK OF AGES ain't nothin' but a good time.

Ford's Theatre presents the Washington premiere of "Fly," by Trey Ellis and Ricardo Khan, directed by Ricardo Khan, now through October 21, 2012. The centerpiece of this year's programming for The Lincoln Legacy Project, "Fly" is based on the experiences of the Tuskegee Airmen during World War II.
