From July 14 to August 18, join New York's most imaginative dance company and an ensemble of Australian dancers in a 50 minute exercise tour through the corridors and gallery spaces of Arts Centre Melbourne and the NGV, outside of opening hours. The Gallery Workout is sure to inspire new perspectives on the art of the ages through movement, unforgettable music and stories from celebrated American artist Maira Kalman. This season, supported by health promotion foundation VicHealth, will be part of MEL&NYC, a new program of multi-disciplinary events taking place this winter in Melbourne.

Shady Ladies Tours will launch The Women's History Tour of Greenwich Village, a walking tour of the downtown New York neighborhood, on Saturday, June 16 at 4:00 PM. The 2-hour tour examines Greenwich Village's links to the history of women's drive for greater autonomy in America, including their demands for suffrage and birth control. On this fun and informative tour, Professor Andrew Lear, founder of Shady Ladies Tours, takes tour-goers on an exploration of this little-known side of the Village. Professor Lear talks about progressive leaders such as anarchist Red Emma Goldman; Margaret Sanger, who opened the first birth control clinic in the country; First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt; and later-generation feminist Rita Mae Brown, who became the partner of tennis star Martina Navratilova.

Singer Tennie Leonard returns to Don't Tell Mama to reprise her popular show, Here and Now,with three new dates, Tuesday, May 22nd, Wednesday May 30th and Thursday, June 7th. All shows are at 7:30 PM. Here and Now is directed by Scott Barnes, with musical direction by pianist Ian Herman and sound and lighting design by J-P Perreaux.

The Old Globe today announced its next cast and creative team-including numerous Globe favorites and new faces-as the 2018 Summer Shakespeare Festival once again presents the finest of the Bard's work outdoors under the stars in the Lowell Davies Festival Theatre. Summer will officially arrive with The Tempest, directed by Joe Dowling (formerly the Artistic Director for Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis and Abbey Theatre in Ireland), with star of stage and screen Kate Burton as Prospera, running June 17 - July 22, 2018. Tickets start at $30.00, on sale to the general public now. Previews run June 17 - 22. Opening night is Saturday, June 23 at 8:00 p.m.

The Decemberists explore a new sound with a new producer on their inspired eighth studio album I'll Be Your Girl. The acclaimed Portland, Oregon-based band worked with producer John Congleton (St. Vincent, Lana del Rey) and embraced influences such as Roxy Music and New Order to spark a new creative path, as can be heard on the synth-driven lead single “Severed,” which is available today to stream or download.

HAMILTON Costume Designer Tells Graduating Artists To Embrace Their Differences

Heralded costume designer Paul Tazewell told the Class of 2018 at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) to embrace their role as pioneers. Tazewell, a 1986 graduate of the School of Design and Production who won a Tony Award in 2016 for the costumes he designed for the Broadway smash 'Hamilton,' spoke May 5 to the largest graduating class in the history of UNCSA.
