Daniel's Husband at Island City Stage, a world premiere about the importance of marriage equality, garnered six nominations, the most of any play.

The fascinating relationship between Virginia Woolf and Vita Sackville-West will be examined in Eileen Atkins' Vita & Virginia which will run at The Vanguard, Broward County's newest performing arts space, now through May 3rd.

Invitations to parties and galas at magnificent private homes in the Hamptons are always coveted but the hottest ducat last week was the lecture by architect, historian Gary Lawrance, co-author with Anne Surchin of Houses of the Hamptons: 1800-1930 held in one of the largest private residences ever built on the East End, Whitefield formerly known as The Orchard. Sponsored by the Southampton Historical Museum, the talk quickly sold out and several hundred guests filled the baronial music room at the sprawling estate. With its soaring, carved mahogany wood walls, coffered ceilings with hand painted embellishments and a fireplace that one could stand inside, the Music Room was the ideal setting for a discussion about the Gilded Age. City Theatre Announces CITYWRIGHTS Programming

City Theatre will begin the lead-up to the CityWrights Playwriting Conference in June, with a special Winter CityWrights free program on January 8-10, 2013, offering three readings of award-winning playwright Leslie Ayvazian's new full-length comedy Out of the City. The readings will give theatre-lovers a sneak peak prior to the World Premiere this summer at New York's respected Bay Street Theatre.

Sanchez, running March 23 - April 8, 2012 stars Florida International University Alumnus Evelyn Perez, New World School of the Arts & Barry University Professor Scott Douglas Wilson, retired City of Miami police Lt. Bill Schwartz, University Center for the Performing Arts Director of Dance Barbara Sloan, and acting apprentice and student of Coral Reef Senior High Javier "Javi" Cabrera. In this relevant and funny play, two long-time friends and neighbors, portrayed by Ms. Perez and Ms. Sloan, are at war over 15 feet of green grass on waterfront property.

New Theatre Offers FREE STUDENT TIX For Opening Weekend Of PROPERTY LINE

New Theatre is offering its "25 under 25 Free Student Tickets" program once again for the opening weekend of Property Line. From March 23-25, 2012 the first 25 students (under 25, with a valid student ID) to come to the box office, a half hour before curtain get in free. Students who come after the free tickets are gone can still get $5 off the regular student ticket price by purchasing a ticket for $10. This promotion is only valid for opening weekend and is subject to availability. The playwright, Juan C. Sanchez, will be in attendance on opening weekend and, as an added bonus, students will be able to meet him and participate in the post play discussion after the Sunday matinee performance.
