Mention Lin-Manuel Miranda and the musical sensation Hamilton comes to mind. If not, then, In the Heights, which had a run at Beck Center last year, is noted. Few know Miranda also wrote both the music and lyrics, along with Tom Kitt and Amanda Green for Bring It On: The Musical, with book by Jeff Whitty, which is loosely based on the 2000 film of the same name. The script centers on the competitive world of cheerleading, with side stories about bullying, teen angst and determining what's important in the world.

Last night, February 16, 2017, at a special preview event for the new documentary 'American Masters -- Maya Angelou: And Still I Rise' at The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture (New York, NY), Dr. Maya Angelou's grandson Colin Johnson, Co-Founder and Principal of Caged Bird Legacy, LLC, presented Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton and President Bill Clinton with a plaque of Dr. Maya Angelou's inauguration poem, 'On The Pulse of Morning,' that flew on the Orion Exploration Flight Test-1 (EFT-1) December 5, 2014. Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director/CEO) presents its annual 2017 Spring Gala 'Act II: Setting the Stage for Roundabout's Future' on Monday, February 27, 2017 in the Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf Astoria (301 Park Avenue, NYC). The evening will honor legendary four-time Tony-winning stage and film actor Frank Langella with The Jason Robards Award for Excellence in Theatre and Leonard Tow, Founder & Chairman of The Tow Foundation, with the Ovation Award for Excellence in Philanthropy. Acclaimed actor Bryan Cranston will present the award to friend and colleague, Frank Langella. Roundabout Underground alum Jenny Rachel Weiner will present the award to Leonard Tow.
All-Chicago Cast Set for SPAMILTON at Royal George Theatre

"Spamilton," the critically acclaimed off-Broadway parody of Lin-Manuel Miranda's sensation, "Hamilton," has set casting for its regional premiere in Chicago at the Royal George Theatre (1641 N. Halsted). Created by Tony Award honoree Gerard Alessandrini, the mastermind behind "Forbidden Broadway," the show features an all-Chicago ensemble including Donterrio Johnson, Adam LaSalle, Michelle Lauto, Eric Andrew Lewis, Yando Lopez and David Robbins. "Spamilton" begins performances Friday, March 3 at the Royal George Theatre's Cabaret/Studio Theatre.
