Goodspeed Sets Starry Group of Writing Teams for 2016 Mercer Writers Colony

In what has become an annual ritual, a total of 36 established and emerging composers, lyricists, and librettists will converge on the Goodspeed campus from mid-January through mid-February 2016 to participate in the Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals. The writing teams, representing 19 new musicals, will populate the campus, creating a truly exciting environment for discovery and inspiration. The Strand Theater, 400 Clifton Ave, Lakewood, NJ and artistic director Anthony D'Amato presents first time ever live music subscription series, NOW That's What I Call Music LIVE!, beginning with 1998's original NOW album on November 27. The infamous compilation album series you may collected over the years, NOW That's What I Call Music!, comes alive as a list of local and national music acts re-create and their spin on pop classics from Aqua's 'Barbie Girl' and The Spice Backstreet Boys 'As Long as You Love Me' to Cherry Poppin' Daddies 'Zoot Suit Riot' and Radiohead's 'Karma Police' as you've never heard them before.

The 20-year old Chicago comedy troupe, Stir Friday Night, brings their 20th sketch revue thru time! On a day to get stress free at the Korean Spa, the Asian-American comedy crew discovers a time machine, instead of more bubbles in the hot tub. Once their time traveling ensues, the hilarity follows, with scenes like Confucius writing for Buzzfeed, Jeremy Lin dreaming of the first Asian-American NBA player, and a future where robots run off of shame; this Stir Friday Night crew finds the funny!

Wolfbane Productions, the premiere theatre company based out of Appomattox, VA, is now debuting their 90's pop adaptation of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, onstage now through September 12, 2015. Returning to the beautiful grounds of the Devils Backbone Brewing Company, this outdoor event is staged amidst the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains at 200 Mosbys Run, Roseland, VA 22967.
