The Wizard of Oz is baked into our collective DNA for good reason; it's a great story with a strong spine. It's got all the right ingredients: remarkable characters, good, evil, love, hate, courage, fear, abundant symbolism -- and magic. The film version supplied our imaginations with gorgeous images and beautiful tunes. The Builders Association returns to Peak Performances with their 21st century You Tube-inspired take on this enduring classic. The fun begins with ELEMENTS OF OZ tonight, September 26th and runs through October 4th, 2015.

Through clever use of multimedia, playwright/performer Moe Angelos' Sontag: Reborn offers glimpses at both the precocious enthusiasm of youth and the wry remembrances of one looking back upon those same years. ('Childhood: a terrible waste of time.') Both come in the form of novelist, essayist, literary critic and inspiration for at least one Broadway showtune, Susan Sontag.
New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) Artistic Director James C. Nicola and Managing Director William Russo have announced that Sontag: Reborn, based on the books by Susan Sontag and edited by David Rieff, adapted and performed by Moe Angelos, directed by Marianne Weems, and produced in collaboration with The Builders Association, will begin performances Tuesday, May 28 at NYTW, 79 East 4 Street, between Bowery and Second Avenue. Opening night is set for Thursday, June 6 at 7pm. Sontag: Reborn is scheduled to run through Sunday, June 30.
From OBIE Award-winning company The Builders Association and director Marianne Weems comes House / Divided, described as 'a high-tech hymn to America's dispossessed. Alternating between vignettes from John Steinbeck's Depression-era novel The Grapes of Wrath and stories of contemporary foreclosure and eviction, the work revolves around onstage remnants of an actual foreclosed home as it is inhabited, abandoned, repurposed, collateralized, securitized, and ultimately destroyed. On multiple screens and on stage, stirring personal testimonials contrast with a digital vision of our highly automated, mediated global market system, creating a distinctly 21st-century portrait of human struggle in the face of an uncertain financial future.'
