Flying Elephant Productions' Presents DEFACING MICHAEL JACKSON

Flying Elephant Productions is pleased to conclude its inaugural season with the Chicago premiere of DEFACING MICHAEL JACKSON, Aurin Squire's racially-charged comedy about adolescence, sexual discovery and the conflict between community and culture. Directed by Alexis J. Roston, DEFACING MICHAEL JACKSON will play July 27 - August 12, 2018 at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont Ave. in Chicago. Casting will be announced shortly. Tickets go on sale Monday, June 4, 2018 at stage773.com, by calling (773) 327-5252 or in person at the Stage 773 box office. The press opening is Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 8 pm.

Seattle Public Theater Invites Americans To Face Their Demons In Its 2018-19 Season

Seattle Public Theater announced today the four shows selected for its 2018-19 Mainstage Season: #CONFRONTINGAMERICA. Featuring four productions in the company's intimate 165-seat Bathhouse Theater, the season includes the regional premiere of Tanya Saracho's national sensation FADE; the world premiere of 2017 Emerald Prize winner FIRE SEASON by Aurin Squire; DRY LAND, "a shocking but honest portrayal of teenage crisis" by Ruby Rae Spiegel; and THE CALL by Tanya Barfield, which tackles the complex issues that accompany adoption across cultures.

Chimera Ensemble Presents the US Premiere of DON'T SMOKE IN BED

Chimera Ensemble is proud to present the US Premiere of DON'T SMOKE IN BED, written by award-winning playwright Aurin Squire, and directed by acclaimed director Chika Ike. The production will go up June 15 - July 8 in The Pentagon Theater at Collaboraction Studios in The Flat Iron Arts Building, 1579 N. Milwaukee Ave, Chicago IL 60622. There will be one preview on Friday, June 15 at 7:30 pm. Opening night, followed by a reception, will be Saturday, June 16 at 7:30 pm.

A makeshift family of auto-plant workers navigate the possibility of foreclosure in this funny, tough, and tender American drama which captured critical raves. Rising star playwright Dominique Morisseau (Ain't Too Proud - The Life and Times of the Temptations, Sunset Baby, Detroit '67, Pipeline) creates a world in which ambitious dreams and corporate deception interweave, pushing friendships to the limit. Skeleton Crew will be directed by Jade King Carroll (Associate Director for Broadway revivals of A Streetcar Named Desire and The Gin Game) and will be presented by TheatreWorks March 7 - April 1, 2018 (opening night: March 10) at the Lucie Stern Theatre, 1305 Middlefield Rd., Palo Alto. Flying Elephant Productions has announced its inaugural season, launching this winter with the world premiere of WE THE PEOPLE SONGS OF THE RESISTANCE, a political song cycle about the 2016 election, which takes audiences from the conventions through election night and its immediate aftermath into the realization of Trump's America and finally, a call to action from We The People.

National Black Theatre Announces The I AM SOUL Workshop Productions

Dr. Barbara Ann Teer's National Black Theatre NBT announces the culminating workshop productions of two I Am Soul Playwriting Resident playwrights, Angelica Ch ri and Derek Lee McPhatter. Ch ri's workshop production, Crowndation: I Will Not Lie David, will be directed by Cezar Williams and star Sheria Irving (Broadway: ROMEO AND JULIET, TV/Film: The Good Wife; Madame Secretary) in a one woman show.

Lee Street Theatre Announces New Technical Director

Lee Street theatre of Salisbury, NC introduces Rod Oden as the new Technical Director to carry out the rest of Season 10 and build future seasons. Oden joins the company after former Technical Director Chris Speer stepped down in December after 5 years of service to the company.

Seattle Public Stages First Reading of Emerald Prize Winner BLUE BOY

Seattle Public Theater will present a staged reading of Aurin Squire's Blue Boy on August 13, 2017, at 4:00pm. Squire is the first recipient of Seattle Public Theater's Emerald Prize: a biennial $10,000 award created to amplify the Pacific Northwest's voice in national conversations and concerns.
