National Black Theatre Announces The Cast Of THE FIRST DEEP BREATH By Lee Edward Colston II

Dr. Barbara Ann Teer's National Black Theatre [NBT] announces today the cast of the first workshop production for this years cohort of I Am Soul Playwriting Residency by playwright Lee Edward Colston II. Colston's workshop production (February 13 - 17, 2019) will be The First Deep Breath which will be directed by Malika Oyetimein. This production with feature Vanessa A. Jones & C. Kelly Wright. As part of NBT's Soul Series L.A.B. [Liberating Artistic Bravery], The First Deep Breath will conclude an 18-month residency for Lee Edward Colston II as the institution celebrating NBT's 50th season which is themed "Liberation: A Journey Beyond Walls."

Cutting Ball Theater's signature festival returns in the 2018/2019 Season, marking the 20th anniversary of the company's founding. The Cutting Ball Variety Pack - called 'half shindig, half artistic salon' by Artistic Director Ariel Craft - is an eleven-day festival dedicated to exploration and collaboration, featuring directorial shorts, new play workshops, and roundtable readings. The Cutting Ball Variety Pack offers an eclectic array of programming with particular delights for the creatively curious from November 8 through November 18. Tickets to festival offerings cost $15 each and all-festival passes costs $30 each. Admission includes a free drink at Cutting Ball's bar.

National Black Theatre Announces 2018 Artists For The L.A.B. Residency Program

Dr. Barbara Ann Teer's National Black Theatre (NBT)has selected the artists for The L.A.B. [Liberating Artistic Bravery] Residency Program, which is comprised of threesignature programs: I Am Soul Playwright Residency withDarrel Alejandro Holnes& Tracey Conyer Lee; Soul Producing Residency with Emana Rachelle; and NBT will be launching this year the Soul Directing Residency with Ebony Noelle Golden. Through The L.A.B., NBT is able to strengthen the artistic relationship between historic Black theatrical institutions and cutting edge artists and administrators. The goal of The L.A.B. is to help diversify the narratives and possibilities being developed and produced about Black lifestyle in American theatre.

Bay Street Theater to Host Free Open Rehearsal of OBAMA-OLOGY

Bay Street Theater and Sag Harbor Center for the Arts is pleased to announce the first ever all intern production, OBAMA-OLOGY by Aurin Squire and directed by Shea King is now in rehearsal. This production will be directed, produced, designed, and acted entirely by the College Intern Company at Bay Street Theater. Performances run from August 9 - 11, with twilight performances at 4 pm at Bay Street Theater. OBAMA-OLOGY is a one act production with no intermission. The show contains some profane language.

Bay Street Theater Announces Its First Ever Intern Production

Bay Street Theater and Sag Harbor Center for the Arts is pleased to announce the first ever summer intern production, OBAMA-OLOGY by Aurin Squire, directed by Bay Street's Directing/Producing intern Shea King and starring Bay Street Theater's 2018 Acting Apprentices. This production will run as the first show ever directed, produced, designed, and acted entirely by the summer intern company at Bay Street Theater. Chimera Ensemble today announced the casting for its US Premiere of DON'T SMOKE IN BED, written by award-winning playwright Aurin Squire, and directed by acclaimed director Chika Ike. Kai A. Ealy, who earlier this year appeared in MARY STUART at Chicago Shakespeare and FRANKLINLAND for Jackalope Theatre company; and ensemble member Nicole Fabbri, seen in Chimera's SISTER CITIES, will play an interracial couple being interviewed about their marriage by an unseen journalist via webcam.

Seattle Public Theater Invites Americans To Face Their Demons In Its 2018-19 Season

Chimera Ensemble is proud to present the US Premiere of DON'T SMOKE IN BED, written by award-winning playwright Aurin Squire, and directed by acclaimed director Chika Ike. The production will go up June 15 - July 8 in The Pentagon Theater at Collaboraction Studios in The Flat Iron Arts Building, 1579 N. Milwaukee Ave, Chicago IL 60622. There will be one preview on Friday, June 15 at 7:30 pm. Opening night, followed by a reception, will be Saturday, June 16 at 7:30 pm.
