 The Ridgefield Playhouse, Ridgefield Magazine Broadway and Cabaret Series and Pepsi Rock Series Powered by Xfinity presents The Doo Wop Project on Sunday, December 4 at 8 p.m. Featuring stars of Broadway's smash hits Jersey Boys and Motown: The Musicalwith their hot band, The Doo Wop Project brings unparalleled authenticity of sound and vocal excellence to recreate - and in some cases entirely reimagine - some of the greatest music in American pop and rock history.

A third audience engagement event has been added to the list of special events surrounding Raven Theatre's production of Red Velvet, which details the story of Ira Aldridge, who in 1833 became the first black actor to play Othello on a London stage.

Acclaimed playwright and screenwriter Beth Henley will be honored with the William Inge Distinguished Achievement in American Theater Award at the 36th William Inge Theater Festival at Independence Community College, Kansas, April 19-22, 2017.

To launch its 50th anniversary season, The Negro Ensemble Company (NEC) will revisit its very first production, 'Day of Absence' (1966) by Douglas Turner Ward, with an eight-performance run December 4-11 at Theatre 80 St. Marks, 80 St. Mark's Place. The season will include three more productions at Theatre 80 St. Marks and one at La MaMa.

Due to popular demand, the Signature Theatre production of The Death of the Last Black Man in the Whole Entire World AKA the Negro Book of the Dead, by Pulitzer Prize-winner Suzan-Lori Parks and directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz, has been extended an additional week.

Pittsburgh Public Theater continues its 42nd season withBetween Riverside and Crazy, the 2015 Pulitzer Prize winner by Stephen Adly Guirgis.
