Harlem School of the Arts Stages Spring Musical ONCE ON THIS ISLAND, Beg. Today

Harlem School of the Arts has announced their upcoming performance of 'Once On This Island.' The award-winning musical takes place in the Caribbean and is one of the few all-black musicals. Once On This Island is directed by Department Director Aubrey Lynch and will take place today, March 29 at 2:00 & 7:00pm.

Friends and supporters sipped champagne and nibbled on exquisite hors d'oeuvres while learning about the exciting plans for the upcoming gala and the incredible live auction that will take place at the grand affair. Among those in attendance were Anka Palitz, Robert Bradford & Barbara Taylor Bradford, Michele Herbert, Fran & Barry Weissler, Patricia & Thomas Shiah, Fe Fendi, Cynthia Fisher, Alex Dube, Aubrey Lynch, Jerry & Susan Baker, Vicki & Christopher Kellogg and scores of dance world luminaries and patrons. Harlem School of the Arts' Dance Concert Closes Out the Year Tonight

Celebrate Harlem School of the Arts (HSA) Dance students as they take the stage in their final performance of the year at The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College tonight, June 13, 2013 at 7pm. Evening highlights include a duet from Complexions Contemporary Ballet, riveting choreography from the highly praised and well-established Artist-in-Residence Christopher L. Huggins and new works by HSA's talented dance faculty. Works will range from traditional ballet to urban hip-hop, showcasing the diversity of art forms within the dance program that HSA rigorously dedicates itself to training its serious students in.

Over 300 guests including current and past New York City high school students, and the performing arts professional mentors who have participated in TDF's Open Doors, the theatre arts mentoring program that TDF founded in 1998 with playwright Wendy Wasserstein, will attend this year's graduation at 5:30pm tonight, June 3 at The Pershing Square Signature Center - Irene Diamond Stage (480 West 42nd Street, NYC).

Harlem School of the Arts Presents Disney's THE LION KING KIDS/JR., Now thru 6/2

For over nine months, the Harlem School of the Arts (HSA) has worked with Disney Theatrical Group to develop adaptations of Disney's musical The Lion King for young performers. Aubrey Lynch is an original cast member and former associate producer of the Broadway production, and he has been overseeing HAS's workshop presentations of Disney Theatrical Group's newest in-development musical for young people. This process has become a vehicle for HSA to further its mission and develop a fifth discipline, musical theatre.

JPAS Theatre Kids! Cast in National Choreography DVD in NYC

Recently, five JPAS Theatre Kids! returned from New York where they were part of a national cast of MTI Junior choreography videos which will be used in thousands of schools and performing arts centers across the country.

Over 350 guests including current and past New York City high school students, and the 28 mentors who have participated in TDF's Open Doors, the theatre arts mentoring program that TDF founded in 1998 with playwright Wendy Wasserstein, will attend this year's graduation at 6pm on Monday, June 6 at NYC Center Stage 1 (131 West 55th Street, NYC). This year has been Open Doors biggest year ever with a total of 28 mentors and guest mentors working with 21 groups of students from New York City high schools.

Something Positive Brings Ancestral Chant To Kumble Theater

For the second year in a row, big names are coming out in support of the dynamic Brooklyn based Afro-Caribbean dance company, Something Positive, for a spectacular one-night performance titled "Ancestral Chant" on Saturday, June 4th at 8PM, at Kumble Theater for the Performing Arts (Long Island University Brooklyn Campus - Flatbush Avenue between DeKalb Avenue and Willoughby Street).
