Scarborough Music Theatre (SMT) presents the tony Award winning musical 'Nine' at Scarborough Village Theatre, November 5 to 21.

Michael Frazier, the producer behind Broadway's Lena Horne: The Lady and Her Music, died at the age of 72 last week of complications with Parkinson's disease in Great Barrington, Massachusetts.

The upcoming film adapation of Maury Yeston and Arthur Kopit's 'Nine' will be available for purchase beginning December 22nd. The soundtrack, to be released by Geffen Records, will include the full score with the addition of three new songs written specifically for the film, entitled 'Guarda la Luna', 'Cinema Italiano' and 'Take It All'.

Charles Abbott has announced he will retire as Artistic Director of Maine State Music Theatre at the end of the 2010 season.

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater continues its 15th anniversary season with the world premiere of Post No Bills, a Tex-Mex play with music by Mando Alvarado. Directed by Michael Ray Escamilla, performances begin Thursday, November 11th, 2009. Opening night is Thursday, November 19th at 7pm. The show is scheduled to run through Sunday, December 13th, 2009.

Tony Award winner B.D. Wong will be joined by Anastasia Barzee, Clarke Thorell, Cindy Cheung, and Orville Mendoza in the Rattlestick Playwrights Theater's musical production of ‘Musical Mix 'n Mingle'. The show will be presented at St. John's in the Village on Monday, October 19.

The Lark Play Development Center announced the selected playwrights for the 2009-10 Playwrights' Workshop. This year's writers are Michi Barall (Ma-Yi Writer's Lab), Madeleine George (13P founding member), Katori Hall (Lark's 2009 PONY Fellow), Sarah Treem (HBO's 'In Treatment') and David Wiener (Extraordinary Chambers).

YALE REPERTORY THEATRE (James Bundy, Artistic Director; Victoria Nolan, Managing Director) announces complete casting and the creative team for the world premiere of POP!, a new musical with book and lyrics by Maggie-Kate Coleman and music by Anna K. Jacobs, directed by Mark Brokaw. POP! will play for 22 performances only, November 27-December 19. Opening Night is Thursday, December 3.

Vogue is putting the spotlight on the leading ladies of NINE for its November issue. Nicole Kidman, Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz and Kate Hudson grace the cover as they take a walk on a Malibu beach for famed photographer Annie Leibovitz. On Monday, October 5th, Rattlestick Playwrights Theater (David van Asselt, Artistic Director) held its 15th Anniversary Gala Benefit at Caroline's Comedy Club. The celebratory evening was hosted by Rattlestick Benefit co-chairs Sandra Coudert, Lawrence Benenson and Colleen Jones. Guests included many of Rattlestick's distinguished alumni including playwrights Craig Wright, Lucy Thurber, Mando Alvarado and Adam Rapp, directors Lucie Tiberghien, Michael Ray Escamilla and Sam Gold, actors Thomas Sadoski, Deirdre O'Connell, Guy Boyd, Marylouise Burke, Matthew Stadelmann, Jessica Dickey and Bill Bowers, as well as many of the company's friends and longtime supporters.

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater will open its 15th anniversary season with a fresh look at Killers and Other Family, the provocative play by Lucy Thurber (Monstrosity, Where We're Born, Stay) which had its world premiere as part of the company's 2000-01 season.

New images have been released from the the upcoming big screen adaptation of the musical Nine. The film, starring Daniel Day-Lewis, and Nicole Kidman, is scheduled to hit cinemas November 25, 2009. The all-star cast is directed by Rob Marshall, who also helmed critically-acclaimed 2002 musical Chicago - which garnered six Academy Awards, including a Best Supporting Actress gong for Catherine Zeta-Jones. Marion Cotillard, Kate Hudson, Stacy 'Fergie' Ferguson, Sophia Loren, Penelope Cruz and Judi Dench star in the film as well.

REDCAT (the Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater) presents the West Coast premiere of Discover Love, a love story based on real events created by Belarus Free Theatre. Discover Love opens Thursday, October 1, 2009 at REDCAT and runs for a limited three-night engagement through Saturday, October 3, 2009.
