The Art & History Museums - Maitland (A&H) opens a new exhibition titled Ex Libris: Altered Book Sculpture by Dawn Rosendahl, on Friday, November 29, 2013 at the A&H's Maitland Art Center Galleries, 231 W. Packwood Avenue, Maitland, FL. The exhibition continues through January 5, 2014. An Opening Reception is held on Friday, December 13, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the A&H's Maitland Art Center. Reception admission is $5; A&H members receive free admission.

This season, the Art Institute of Chicago invites visitors to feast their eyes on the rich tradition of food in American art with the opening of the major exhibition Art? and Appetite: American Painting, Culture, and Cuisine. Exploring the many meanings and interpretations of eating in America, Art and Appetite--on view from November 12, 2013 through January 27, 2014 in the museum's Regenstein Hall --brings together 100 paintings, sculptures, and decorative arts from the 18th through the 20th century to demonstrate how depictions of food have allowed American artists to both celebrate and critique everything from the national diet to society and politics. Following its premiere at the Art Institute, Art ?and Appetite: American Painting, Culture, and Cuisine will travel to the Amon Carter Museum of American Art in Fort Worth, Texas (February 22-May 18, 2014).

The Society of Architectural Historians (SAH) will present four Awards for Architectural Excellence during its annual SAH Awards Gala on Saturday, November 9, at The Casino. The awards will honor local individuals and organizations in the categories of design, planning and sustainability; media; criticism and stewardship. The theme of this year's gala is a Century of Progress: 1913-2013, recognizing the changes in the urban landscape over the past 100 years. This presentation-on view in the Abbott Galleries (Galleries 182-184) in the museum's Modern Wing from today, October 24, 2013 through January 26, 2014 -includes nearly 30 paintings created between 1990 and 2013. The selection of canvases and their nonchronological groupings reflect the emphatic diversity of subject matter and the stylistic and material explorations of Baer's practice. Often called both conceptual and performative, her paintings are simultaneously spare and sensuous, oscillating between revealing and pretending to reveal themselves.

New York, NY... Hauser & Wirth is proud to present an exhibition comprising two new series of works by artist Roni Horn. Opening 11 November 2013, 'Everything was sleeping as if the universe were a mistake' will fill the gallery's West Chelsea space in Manhattan with large format drawings and two multi-part sculptures that continue Horn's exploration of the nature of perception, memory, and identity. The experiential quality of Horn's glass installations link the relationship of time to space and light. Employing the formal devices of pairing, repetition, and doubling, Horn challenges the viewer to reconcile the eye and the mind. 'Everything was sleeping as if the universe were a mistake' will be on view through 11 January 2014.
