BMI-Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop Sets Spring Smoker for 4/26

The BMI-Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop announces its Spring Smoker, a semi-annual showcase for new songs from Workshop writers. The event will be held in the 30th Floor Media Room of BMI's New York office at 7 World Trade Center/250 Greenwich Street on Thursday, April 26, at 5:30PM and is open to members of the entertainment industry as well as Workshop members. First Draft Presents EVERYTHING LIVES IN A CLOUD Reading Tonight

First Draft at Charter Theater - a nonprofit organization devoted to developing theater audiences alongside new plays; supporting DC-based artists; and partnering with theaters looking to produce new work - presents two readings this month of the new play, "everything lives in a cloud," by DC-based playwright and Charter Associate Artistic Director, Chris Stezin. The second April reading will take place at 7:30 p.m. tonight, April 24th at the Arts Club of Washington. The popular First Draft series combines the reading of a play with a guided, post-show audience discussion.

Patti LuPone Honored with Signature Theatre's 2011 Stephen Sondheim Award

The Tony Award-winning Signature Theatre will honor esteemed stage actress Patti LuPone with the company's third Stephen Sondheim Award. The award, established in 2009 in honor of America's most influential contemporary musical theater writer and composer, will be presented at a black-tie Gala Benefit on April 16, 2012 at the Embassy of Italy in Washington, DC. XANADU to Close Signature's 22nd Season, 5/6-7/1

Beginning performances on May 6th, Xanadu will be transforming Signature's MAX Theatre into one big disco-ball heaven - complete with satin shorts and roller skates! Nominated for four Tony Awards® (including "Best Musical"), the musical features a Book by Douglas Carter Beane, with Music and Lyrics by Jeff Lynne and John Farrar. Just as the 2012 presidential race heats up,International City Theatre (ICT) presents the West Coast premiere of a hard-boiled, darkly comic, Olivier Award-nominated rock musical about the American political machine. With book and lyrics by John Dempsey and music by Dana P. Rowe, The Fix begins a four-week run on April 27 at International City Theatre in the Long Beach Performing Arts Center. Randy Brenner is at the helm, with musical direction by Darryl Archibald, choreography by Heather Castillo, and Sal Mistretta reprising his Helen Hayes Award-winning role as Uncle Grahame. Low-priced previews take place on April 24, 25 and 26.
