The basketball team at Athens University hasn't won a game in more than 30 years. The worst part in transfer student Lysistrata Jones' opinion is that no one seems to mind! 'Lyssie J' sets out to change that, rallying the cheerleaders to inspire their boyfriends to win, she announces that the cheerleaders will stop 'giving it up' until the team wins.

On Friday, February 7 at 5:30pm at The Players (16 Gramercy Park, New York, NY), Elements Theatre Company of Orleans, MA will present an original work, Labyrinth: A Legacy of Language, exploring Shakespeare's influence on playwrights through the past four and a half centuries, from Sheridan to Ibsen to Stoppard. The production will be a springboard for a 7:00pm discussion in the ARTS IN CONVERSATION panel series, on How Shakespeare Humanizes Our Culture: The Transforming Power of His Work. Panelists include George Drance, SJ, Artist in Residence at Fordham University, Louis Colaianni, author of How to Speak Shakespeare and Teacher/Coach, Rob Weinert-Kendt, Associate Editor at American Theatre, and Josh Cabat, Co-founder of the New York City Student Shakespeare Festival. Back for a third season of all new works, 4x4=Musicals has realized that producing musicals on a tiny four foot platform had become too easy. So this year, they all need to DANCE! Seven brand new musicals will twirl and leap as well as sing. Pirates, Sheep, Mad Cattle, Claustrophobics and more come together to prove once again that less is more.

Queens Theatre (QT), in conjunction with the acclaimed Aquila Theatre, presents William Shakespeare's TWELFTH NIGHT, an innovative and exciting new production directed by Aquila Theatre Artistic Director, Desiree Sanchez (BAM's Herakles). TWELFTH NIGHT will play 4 performances only at Queens Theatre (14 United Nations Avenue South, Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens, NY 11368). Performances are Friday, February 14, 2014 at 2pm, Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 2pm and 8pm, and Sunday, February 16, 2014 at 3pm. Chance Theater presents the first show of its 16th Anniversary Season - the hilarious modern musical adaptation of Aristophanes' classic comedy, Lysistrata Jones, with music by Tony Award nominee Douglas Carter Beane, music and lyrics by Lewis Flinn, and direction by Kari Hayter. Lysistrata Jones will preview from February 7 through 14, open February 15 and continue through March 9 at the new Chance Theater.

In William Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night," a woman disguises herself as a man to make her way in the world. There's a note of irony here, then, that Savage Rose Classical Theatre Company opens its 2013-2014 "Season of Storms" with the play. In a Savage Rose production, the playwright's words are the focus, the story that is to be told as directly as possible in the style originally intended. Lysistrata Jones gets back in the game! This time at Pace University. A modern retelling of Aristophanes's 411 B.C. comedy, Lysistrata, Lysistrata Jones tells the story of a group of college cheerleaders refusing to "give it up" until their boyfriends win a basketball game. Penned by Tony Award Nominee Douglas Carter Beane (Cinderella, The Little Dog Laughed, Sister Act, As Bees in Honey Drown) with music and lyrics by Lewis Flinn, this pop musical is presented by PACE University's BFA Musical Theater Program headed by Amy Rogers. The show runs through November 17th at the Schimmel Theatre at Pace University.
