OWN to Honor Maya Angelou this Sunday

OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network will air a special tribute in memory of Dr. Maya Angelou with encore presentations including “Super Soul Sunday, “Oprah's Master Class,” “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” and the network premiere of “Oprah Winfrey's Legends Ball” this Sunday, June 1 from 5 p.m. – 10 p.m. ET/PT on OWN. Immediately following, “Oprah's Master Class” with Whoopi Goldberg will air at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

Atlantic Records will release the Original Broadway Cast Recording of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, the most nominated musical revival of the season, featuring Tony Award nominees Neil Patrick Harris and Lena Hall. The album is produced by HEDWIG composer Stephen Trask, Tony Award nominated sound designer and platinum-selling record producer Tim O'Heir, and the production's music director Justin Craig. The album is executive produced by Elie Landau and David Binder.

Electric Youth (EY), the international touring ensemble of singer-dancers trained at the Franklin School for the Performing Arts (FSPA), will perform at Showcase Live at Patriot Place in Foxboro on Friday, June 13 at 7:30 p.m. The event is a Bon Voyage Concert for Electric Youth, coming just days before the ensemble departs on June 19th for a three-week concert tour of Austria and Italy. The group's 11th European tour will include a return Fourth of July engagement at Aviano Air Force Base to entertain U.S. Troops and families stationed abroad.

The critically acclaimed show recounts Copeland's compelling and moving story of growing up black in the 1970s in San Leandro, California, a city once nationally known as one of the most racist in America. With wit and heartfelt passion, he explores the themes of racial identity and, ultimately, belonging.
