During Sloane Crosley's very funny event atElliott Bay Book Co. to promote The Clasp(Farrar, Straus & Giroux, $26), she remarked on what's next for her. After considering the enigmatic origin of the boxes - their makers remain anonymous - Sprung realized she could, as the Confucian saying implies, understand these boxes through painting them.
