Pianist Karine Poghosyan Performs Beethoven Birthday Celebration to Benefit Armenia Music School Tonight

The Armenian-American pianist Karine Poghosyan will be paying tribute to Ludwig van Beethoven (b. Dec. 16, 1770 - d. March 26, 1827) with a birthday celebration that will also benefit the Armenia Fund USA's Tchaikovsky School Renovation in Yerevan, Armenia. This celebration will take place tonight, December 16 at 7pm at the Armenian Evangelical Church located at 152 East 34th Street.

Literature, Theatre and More Set for Center for Jewish History's Jan/Feb 2016 Programs

The Center for Jewish History has just announced its January & February 2016 programs. Highlights include a discussion on Jewish Museums in the 21st Century, the launch of Lawrence Douglas' book on John Demjanjuk, a daring theatrical examination of racism and anti-Semitism, a look back at the 16th century 'Battle of the Books,' and a look forward at the rise of a 'New Judaism' in Latin America.

Mike Sears's WHEN IT COMES Gets Workshop at The Old Globe This December

The Old Globe will present WHEN IT COMES with free public workshop presentations, marking the culmination of Mike Sears's 2015 San Diego Foundation Creative Catalyst Grant. Inspired by writer Sears's real-life experiences, the piece was developed in collaboration with a team of local artists: four San Diego actors, puppetry by Animal Cracker Conspiracy (Iain Gunn and Bridget Rountree), music by Clinton Davis, and direction by Sears's wife, Lisa Berger.

Parody Twitter accounts can be a lot of things. They can be sarcastic (Condescending Wonka), they can make you think (Bored Elon Musk), they can be utterly ridiculous (not the real Bill Murray). The theatre community's favorite parody account, Annoying Actor Friend, has been all of those things at different times during its nearly three and a half year existence. The one constant for the character, whether it was brazenly flirting with the official SMASH account, championing causes important to theatre actors and fans, or shamelessly plugging its concerts and books, has been its anonymity. That is of course until yesterday when the account, followed by over 20,000 people, innocuously retweeted a link from a seemingly random blog by Andrew Briedis.
