These works invite audiences to explore 21st-century opera viewing in a new streaming series of short opera films based on true personal experiences with Romeo and Juliet themes. Each episode includes a line from Shakespeare's play about star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet.

Through its new program, NBT Beyond Walls, the institution will now produce activities citywide, nationally and internationally. Highlights of NBT's 50th season include partnerships and programming with Carnegie Hall, the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture and the World Famous Apollo Theater; the national tour of the critically acclaimed one-woman show The Peculiar Patriot; and the ongoing cultural exchange with the international sister institution, the National Black Theatre of Sweden, established in Stockholm in November 2018. Founded in 1968, the oldest continually run Black theater in New York City and one of America's longest continually operated theaters run by women of color will celebrate its half-century mark through October 2019.
Icon of justice and victims' rights advocate John Walsh joins America's leading true-crime network, Investigation Discovery, on their joint mission to track down fugitives on the run and find missing children with IN PURSUIT WITH JOHN WALSH. Each week, John Walsh leads viewers through unsolved violent crimes that urgently need to be closed – where time is of the essence and harnessing the power of ID's active and engaged audience could bring these criminals to justice. Joining John in every episode is his son, Callahan Walsh, who leads the operation on the ground, working in tandem with the community and local authorities to search for persons-of-interest. In partnership with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), the series will also feature two missing children each hour, providing age-progression photos and descriptions in the hopes that viewers can provide new leads to their whereabouts. The Crossing and Donald Nally have won the 2019 Grammy Award for Best Choral Performance for their recording of Lansing McLoskey's Zealot Canticles. The award was presented yesterday, February 10, 2019, at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. This marks the Philadelphia new-music choir's second consecutive Grammy in the category, previously winning the 2018 Grammy for Gavin Bryars' The Fifth Century with PRISM Saxophone Quartet on ECM. The Crossing's recording of Thomas Lloyd's Bonhoeffer (Albany 2016) was nominated for the 2017 Grammy in the same category.

Today, the U.S. Marshals announced the capture of Luis Frias, who was profiled in the premiere episode of IN PURSUIT WITH JOHN WALSH on January 16 and one of their “15 Most Wanted.” Luis Frias from Blackwell, Okla. has been on John Walsh's personal most wanted list since 2013 after allegedly stabbing his ex-wife, Janett Reyna, to death in front of their children. Thanks to a tip from a brave viewer of IN PURSUIT, Frias arrived back on U.S. soil earlier today where U.S. Marshals used the same handcuffs issued to the victim when she was a police officer with the Blackwell Police Department.
WALKOUT: Past, Present, Repeat, a timely new oratorio written by Van Nuys High School students for the Los Angeles Master Chorale's Voices Within Oratorio Project, will be premiered by students and members of the Master Chorale on Friday, March 1st and Saturday, March 2nd in the school's auditorium. The Friday performance will be for fellow students. The Saturday performance at 1 PM is presented as a free community concert and is open to the public.
