Following a standing room only opening performance, The Laurie Beechman Theatre has announced two additional performances of our brand new venture, SIMPLY STREISAND, a celebration of Ms. Barbra Streisand, her legendary career and the music she made famous.
Following sixteen sold out shows, The Laurie Beechman Theatre will continue their hit series, SONDHEIM UNPLUGGED, for a seventeenth installment, Monday, August 29th at 7pm. With this performance, Sondheim Unplugged enters the second year of it's smash run, having begun this journey of celebrating Sondheim in July of 2010.
It's time to dig through Kansas City closets for leg warmers and disco balls! Starlight Theatre's production of Xanadu, the final show of the 2011 Broadway season, is ready to light up the Starlight stage (with neon!) on Aug. 15-21.

Annie Golden has joined the cast of the The Common Swallow. Annie Golden was discovered on the Bowery fronting a rock band and cast by Milos Forman as Jeannie in Hair, the 1978 film.

Although there have been previous productions of The Shaggs: Philosophy of the World since the musical premiered in Los Angeles eight years ago, thanks to a 13-year-old girl's fondness for Friday, the show has never been more relevant.

Nicola; Managing Director, William Russo) just opened THE SHAGGS: PHILOSOPHY OF THE WORLD, a new musical with book by Joy Gregory; music by Gunnar Madsen; lyrics by Ms. Gregory and Mr. Madsen; and story by Ms. Gregory, Mr. Madsen and John Langs. Directed by Mr. Langs, the limited engagement will play through Sunday, July 3 at Playwrights Horizons Mainstage Theater (416 West 42nd Street).
Though the current tenants at the Eugene O'Neil claim to be presenting 'God's Favorite Musical,' the new gang moving into Circle In The Square this October may have something to say about that as the first Broadway revival of Godspell gears up for a November 7th opening.

Mr. Andrews is in the Guinness Book of World Records as 'the longest-running actor in the same Broadway show,' on behalf of his 23-year run in The Phantom of the Opera.

Included in the cast are an array of Broadway and cabaret alums, including Eric Michael Gillett (The Frogs, Kiss Me, Kate, Sweet Smell of Success), Jana Robbins (Mazeppa in the 1989 revival of Gypsy), and Lucia Spina (B'way's Legally Blonde, South Pacific). We're also pleased to welcome three very special guests, each of whom created roles in Sondheim musicals: Crista Moore (Louise in the 1989 Broadway revival of Gypsy), Teri Ralson (Company's original Jenny and Mrs. Nordstrom in the original A Little Night Music) and Sarah Rice(Sweeney Todd's original Johanna). Recently, Sondheim Unplugged received the 2011 Bistro Award for Outstanding Cabaret Series, and was nominated for the 2011 MAC Award.
