BWW Reviews: History Theatre's BABY CASE Takes Flight

A kidnapped baby. An American Hero. Sensationalized news coverage. All add up to the 'Crime of the Century'. Throw in some songs and you have the musical 'Baby Case' currently playing in Saint Paul at the History Theatre. Known for producing shows with historical ties to Minnesota and the upper Midwest, the History Theatre tapped Michael Ogborn's 'Baby Case' to open their season. 'Baby Case' recounts the 1932 kidnapping and murder of Charles A. Lindbergh's 20 month old son and the non stop press coverage through the conviction of Bruno Hauptmann.

GYPSY to Open 10/18 at Novato Theater

Mama Rose, Baby June, and plain, gawky Louise (but just wait!) hit the boards as the ever-popular musical Gypsy becomes the second production of the Novato Theater Company's 2013-2014 season in its charming new theater. The Arthur Laurents-Jule Styne-Stephen Sondheim musical features songs like 'Let Me Entertain You,' 'You Gotta Have a Gimmick,' and of course, 'Everything's Coming up Roses.'

Photo Flash: First Look at History Theatre's THIS SIDE OF PARADISE

History Theatre presents the regional premiere of a new musical about the lives and works of St. Paul's original "it" couple, F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald. As glittering emblems of the Jazz Age, their romance reflected the era during which they lived: highs and lows, boom and bust, a thrilling rise and a devastating crash. This Side of Paradise, which premiered off-Broadway in 2010, is seen from the point of view of Zelda at the age of 39, looking back on her life with Scott using music and dance to capture both the joy of their romance and their struggles for artistic identity and fame. Following an overwhelming response to the announcement of these special performances, both shows promptly sold out.

BWW Reviews: Roxy Regional Theatre's SPRING AWAKENING Couldn't Be More Timely For Tennessee Audiences

It's rather ironic that this week-a week in which members of the Tennessee State Senate considered a bill that would outlaw such "gateway sexual activities" as hand-holding and kissing among the state's schoolchildren-that Clarksville's Roxy Regional Theatre would unveil its rock-solid production of Spring Awakening, the Duncan Sheik/Steven Sater musical about sexual repression and the perils of denying the possibilities of carnal knowledge and an accompanying sense of self-awareness among teenagers in Germany in the late 19th century.
