GYPSY Opens Tonight at Novato Theater

Mama Rose, Baby June, and plain, gawky Louise (but just wait!) hit the boards as the ever-popular musical Gypsy becomes the second production of the Novato Theater Company's 2013-2014 season in its charming new theater. The Arthur Laurents-Jule Styne-Stephen Sondheim musical features songs like 'Let Me Entertain You,' 'You Gotta Have a Gimmick,' and of course, 'Everything's Coming up Roses.'

Baby Case originally premiered at the Arden Theater Company in Philadelphia in 2001 and received four Barrymore Awards including Outstanding Overall Production of a Musical and Outstanding Original Music (with 11 nominations). In 2012 it played at the New York Musical Festival where it received the "Best of Fest" audience prize. Baby Case celebrates its regional premiere at History Theatre in Charles Lindbergh's boyhood home state of Minnesota.

A kidnapped baby. An American Hero. Sensationalized news coverage. All add up to the 'Crime of the Century'. Throw in some songs and you have the musical 'Baby Case' currently playing in Saint Paul at the History Theatre. Known for producing shows with historical ties to Minnesota and the upper Midwest, the History Theatre tapped Michael Ogborn's 'Baby Case' to open their season. 'Baby Case' recounts the 1932 kidnapping and murder of Charles A. Lindbergh's 20 month old son and the non stop press coverage through the conviction of Bruno Hauptmann.

As glittering emblems of the Jazz Age, their romance reflected the era during which they lived: highs and lows, boom and bust, a thrilling rise and a devastating crash. This Side of Paradise, which premiered off-Broadway in 2010, is seen from the point of view of Zelda at the age of 39, looking back on her life with Scott using music and dance to capture both the joy of their romance and their struggles for artistic identity and fame. The Film Society of Lincoln Center will kick off a daily radio program tomorrow from the 2013 Sundance Film Festival called Film Society's Daily Buzz with Eugene Hernandez. The daily radio show, recorded live each morning at the Village at the Lift on Main St. in Park City is hosted by the Film Society of Lincoln Center's Eugene Hernandez, a co-founder of Indiewire who is celebrating his 20th anniversary of attending the festival.

NBC Nightly News to Feature Report on TDF's Autism-Friendly MARY POPPINS, 5/1

"NBC Nightly News" correspondent Anne Thompson will report on the autism-friendly performance of Mary Poppins, which took place this Sunday, April 29 at 1PM. This performance was presented by Theatre Development Fund's Autism Theatre Initiative, which is a service of TDF's Accessibility Programs (TAP). Mary Poppins is the second Broadway production, after The Lion King, to host an autism-friendly performance. Following an overwhelming response to the announcement of these special performances, both shows promptly sold out.

It's rather ironic that this week-a week in which members of the Tennessee State Senate considered a bill that would outlaw such "gateway sexual activities" as hand-holding and kissing among the state's schoolchildren-that Clarksville's Roxy Regional Theatre would unveil its rock-solid production of Spring Awakening, the Duncan Sheik/Steven Sater musical about sexual repression and the perils of denying the possibilities of carnal knowledge and an accompanying sense of self-awareness among teenagers in Germany in the late 19th century.
