NEW YORK, September 30, 2014 - The New York Dance and Performance Awards (The Bessies), NYC's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, announced today the host of the anniversary ceremony that is to be held at the legendary Apollo Theater. Broadway playwright, actress and 1993 Bessie awardee Lisa Kron will host the 30th Annual Bessie Awards. Produced in partnership with Dance/NYC, the awards will take place October 20, 7:30 p.m. Nominees will arrive starting 6:00 p.m. for Red Carpet press interviews and photo opportunities.
Northrop at the University of Minnesota announces its 2014//15 Northrop Season, featuring two iconic modern dance companies, five international troupes, four evening length works, four world-class ballet companies, and one music performance. This will be the first full season back at Northrop after the revitalization. The new season reflects Northrop's 96-year tradition of presenting innovative and world-renowned artists, all of which will be presented by Northrop on the Carlson Family Stage, except for one copresented event at Walker Art Center.

Today, the 36 nominees for the 2013-14 season were announced at a press conference by members of The Bessies Selection Committee. The nominations (listed below) were selected by an independent committee of 40 dance industry professionals. Produced in partnership with Dance/NYC, Bessie Award categories include Outstanding Performer, Outstanding Production, Outstanding Visual Design, Outstanding Music Composition or Sound Design and Outstanding Revival.
Tickets are on sale now for "Presented" shows in the 2014 Fringe Festival presented by FringeArts, bringing the world's most daring and innovative performers to Philadelphia stages for the 18th year in a row from September 5-21. Within a milieu of multinational double-dealings, ethnic conflict, brutal militia, 'blood minerals' and glittering Chinese imports, a Congolese warlord and his ambitious wife murder their leader and unleash atrocities on the crumbling African province that they seize.

Single tickets will go on sale on March 31 for ALL Lincoln Center Festival presentations. The festival, which runs from July 7 through August 16, 2014, with performances by artists and ensembles from 11 countries, and a co-presentation with Park Avenue Armory, will take place in six venues on and off the Lincoln Center campus.
