The Poetry Project Announces 50th Anniversary Gala Honoring Anne Waldman 4/27

The Poetry Project will host its first-ever gala in celebration of its 50th anniversary on Thursday, April 27, 2017. The gala will honor Anne Waldman for her radical and inspiring contributions to international contemporary poetry and activism, and for her past leadership of The Poetry Project. The evening will include performances by composer and performance artist Laurie Anderson, writer and vocalist LaTasha Diggs, and choreographer Yoshiko Chuma.

MTC Announces Tour of WHAT RHYMES WITH CARS AND GIRLS

BWW Reviews: ANNA'S AMERICANA Provides a Glimpse Into Anna Sokolow's Investigation of the Human Condition

Anna's Americana by the Sokolow Theatre/Dance Ensemble on December 4th provided a glimpse into Anna Sokolow's investigation of the human condition in the intimate space of The Theater at the 14th Street Y. Alan Danielson's Are We There Yet (2000) accompanied three works by Sokolow, Preludes (1984), Homage to Edgar Allan Poe (1993), and Frida (1997). Directed by longtime Sokolow dancer and Bessie recipient Jim May, the program underscored the focus of Sokolow's voice through the decades of her work.

The production will be directed by Co-Artistic Directors Paul H. Bedard and Katie Palmer and will feature Laura Aristovulous, Samantha Keogh, Rebekah Levin, Lizzy Palmer, and Marchelle Thurman with Original Music Composition by Randall Benichak, Lighting Design by Dan Stearns, and Set and Costumes created by the cast.
