PBS announced today that it has given the greenlight to a second season of MERCY STREET, PBS' first original drama in more than a decade

With the sixth and final season of beloved British import DOWNTON ABBEY quickly coming to an end, PBS is hoping to hold onto the fans of the early 20th Century soap with new historical drama MERCY STREET. The Civil War hospital series debuted Sunday night after the third installment of DOWNTON's nine-episode season, but beyond their proximity on the network's schedule, the two period dramas have little in common; but that's not a bad thing for either show. Where DOWNTON is mostly a light-hearted look at a wealthy English family and the people who serve them, which only occasionally delves into significantly dramatic fare, MERCY STREET is a bone-chillingly authentic look at one of the most traumatic times in American history that has only momentary flits of humor.

The 1860s are a familiar period for Donna Murphy. In addition to winning Tonys for playing Fosca in the original Broadway production of PASSION and Anna in the 1996 revival of THE KING AND I, the actress played Mary Todd Lincoln in the television movie, THE DAY LINCOLN WAS SHOT. All three projects were set between 1862 and 1867. And, while she jokes that the 1998 film was the last time that she had worn a corset, when she read the pilot episode of PBS's Civil War medical drama MERCY STREET, premiering tonight at 10:00pm ET, she knew that she wanted to be involved.

The Casting Society of America (CSA) has selected its presenters for the 30th Annual Artios Awards, taking place in Los Angeles and New York City on January 22, 2015 during the height of awards season. The Los Angeles ceremony will be hosted by Patton Oswalt and will be located at The Beverly Hilton. The New York City ceremony will be hosted by Michael Urie and will be located at 42WEST (formerly XL Nightclub) Cabaret & Lounge (512 West 42nd Street).

MCC THEATER has announced complete casting for the New York premiere of Jennifer Haley's The Nether directed by Anne Kaufman. Ben Rosenfield, memorably of the final two seasons of "Boardwalk Empire," and rising talent Sophia Anne Caruso will take on the roles of Woodnut and Iris, respectively. As previously announced, The Nether will also star "Nurse Jackie" Emmy Award winner Merritt Wever, New York theater veteran Peter Friedman and Tony Award winner Frank Wood.

Production wrapped last week in Los Angeles on THE NIGHTMARE – the latest film from acclaimed director Rodney Ascher (ROOM 237) and Content.

It was announced today that Content Film, the worldwide sales arm of Content Media Corporation Ltd., has acquired international sales rights to the high concept sci-fi thriller 400 DAYS, starring Caity Lotz (THE MACHINE, THE PACT, ARROW), Brandon Routh (SUPERMAN RETURNS, ARROW), Dane Cook (GOOD LUCK CHUCK, DAN IN REAL LIFE) and Ben Feldman (CLOVERFIELD, FRIDAY THE 13th, MAD MEN).

Hosted by Sherri Sheppard, the event featured a special performance by six-time Grammy winner Carrie Underwood.

The Creative Coalition's annual benefit dinner was held on Friday, May 2, 2014 to promote continuing support for the arts in America. Former SEX AND THE CITY star Sarah Jessica Parker and THE CARRIE DIARIES lead AnnaSophia Robb, both known for playing two versions of fictional Manhattan style icon 'Carrie Bradshaw,' met for hte first time at Cosmopolitan magazine's Cosmo 100 lunch today.

Yesterday, Warner Bros TV released the first Image of the young Samantha Jones, to be played by Lindsey Gort. Kim Cattrall, who originated the steamy role took to Twitter to show her approval and lend a bit of advice to her younger counterpart.
