In addition, at 2 pm on Saturday, April 16 at the Fairmont's Laurel Court Restaurant, Bay Area Cabaret will host a High Tea/High Fashion event celebrating the panache and style that defines The Puppini Sisters. Vintage attire is encouraged for this event, which will provide an opportunity to welcome the singers to town, hear them sing an a cappella number and see an array of fashions by local vintage fashion enthusiasts. February 16, 2016 – Richmond, Virginia Music Director Steven Smith and Executive Director David Fisk announced the 2016-17 season of the Richmond Symphony (RSO). The season features great works of music that tell stories about the world in which we live and fantastic guest artists that represent the best in world-class soloists. As a special collaboration with the Carole and Marcus Weinstein Jewish Community Center, the Symphony will open its season with the legendary Itzhak Perlman – an artist that transcends music of all genres and people of all backgrounds.

Last Sunday, New York's Birdland Jazz Club welcomed the third and fourth shows in Ann Hampton Callaway's This is Cabaret series that is subsequently aired on National Public Radio (check local listings for dates and times). As increased exposure is vital to the health of the art form, one can only applaud its emergence. Callaway's special guests (one in each hour segment) were jazz performer Kurt Elling and cabaret Goddess Marilyn Maye.

On October 14, 2016, The New York Pops - a symphonic orchestra known for presenting popular programs of exceptional quality - will launch its 34th season at Carnegie Hall celebrating the diversity of some of popular music's greatest icons. Music Director Steven Reineke, who has been described by The New York Times as a 'polished, welcoming host' who is 'young and vigorous, with a playful attitude,' will lead the orchestra in the highly anticipated concert season. The series will include an opening night concert celebrating the legacy of Lerner and Loewe with Broadway stars Colin Donnell and Laura Osnes alongside operatic baritone Nathan Gunn; a festive patriotic salute on Veterans Day; an exciting spin on our traditional holiday concert, featuring sibling duos Liz and Ann Hampton Callaway and Will and Anthony Nunziata; an exploration of the lasting partnership between Broadway legends Kander and Ebb, featuring Joshua Henryand Caissie Levy; and a tribute to some of the century's greatest singers and songwriters.

After BroadwayWorld launched its New York Cabaret Awards in 2012, the cabaret section's editors realized that the selected categories and the popular vote nature of the election didn't adequately recognize some great performances and shows for that particular year. So in 2013, BWW added "Editor's Choice Awards" to the mix to not only reward special performances but also to acknowledge people who have helped grow cabaret and foster the spirit of the art form.
This year, BWW New York Cabaret Editor Stephen Hanks and his reviewing staff-including Alix Cohen, David Clarke, Billie Roe, Rembert Block, and John Hoglund-selected seven stars of cabaret for this special honor. Now that the Awards for 2015 performances and shows are official, we wanted to tell you a bit about this year's "Editor's Choice Award" winners and offer them a chance to thank the New York cabaret community. Congratulations to all these worthy Award recipients.
