SYMPHO presents two new concert experiences in New York City, Ascending Darkness: Soundtrack to a Dream on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 8 p.m. at the Church of the Ascension (Fifth Avenue at 10th Street), and KAPOW! on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 7 p.m. at the Rubin Museum of Art (150 W. 17th Street).

Jessica Burr to Direct EURYDICE'S DREAM for Blessed Unrest, 3/28-4/22

Blessed Unrest, winner of the 2008 New York Innovative Theatre Award for Outstanding Production of a Play, presents EURYDICE'S DREAM, the company's newest original piece conceived by Jessica Burr (recipient of the 2011 League of Professional Theatre Women Lucille Lortel Award), and presented at the Interart Theater (500 West 52nd Street, corner of 10th Avenue) in Manhattan. Preview performances of EURYDICE'S DREAM begin March 28 prior to an official press opening of April 1st, 2013.

"NYC 1993" looks at art made and exhibited in New York over the course of one year, providing a synchronic panorama in which established artists and emerging figures of the time are presented alongside the work of authors whose influence has since faded from the discussion. Centering on the year 1993, the exhibition is conceived as a time capsule, an experiment in collective memory that attempts to capture a specific moment at the intersection of art, pop culture, and politics. "NYC 1993: Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star" will be on view at the New Museum from February 13-May 26, 2013.

Arts & Education Council Finds a Home at Centene Center

On the cusp of its 50th anniversary, the Arts and Education Council announces another major milestone in its history - the purchase of its first home at the Centene Center for Arts and Education. Located in the Grand Center Arts District, the beautiful Gothic-style white glazed terra cotta facade building at 3547 Olive Street is home to 18 arts and arts education organizations. The first of its kind in the St. Louis region, the Centene Center for Arts and Education is an arts incubator that offers below-market rent, shared rehearsal, event and meeting spaces as well as technological infrastructure to all of its tenants.

Hartford Stage Hosting Two Special Exhibits During DIVINE RIVALRY, 3/2-3/20

Hartford Stage will celebrate the artistic partnership among director Michael Wilson, set designer Jeff Cowie, and sound designer John Gromada in Working with Michael, a multi-media exhibit in 'room,' Hartford Stage's new function space. At the same time, the theatre will unveil Part II of Capturing the Moment, a season-long retrospective of the work of company photographer T. Charles Ericson, commemorating his 25 years with Hartford Stage. The Ericson installation will be in the theatre's upper lobby. The exhibits coincide with the run of Divine Rivalry, a world premiere play by noted political journalist Michael Kramer, which is the last MainStage production Wilson will be directing as Hartford Stage Artistic Director. Cowie designed the sets for the production, and Gromada the sound and original music. Official opening of both exhibits is Wednesday, March 2 at 6:00 p.m., directly before the 7:30 performance of Divine Rivalry.
