FOR HER AS A PIANO to Make World Premiere at Pegasus Theatre This Fall

Pegasus Theatre Chicago is pleased to launch its 2015-16 season with the world premiere drama FOR HER AS A PIANO by Nambi E. Kelley, playwright of the critically acclaimed 2014 hit Native Son, featuring music by Jaret Landon and directed by Producing Artistic Director Ilesa Duncan. Produced in association with Goodman Theatre and Chicago Dramatists, FOR HER AS A PIANO will play September 30 - November 1, 2015 at Chicago Dramatists, 1105 W. Chicago Ave. in Chicago.

16th Street Theater Welcomes New Managing Director

16th Street Theater has announced that after a national search Rob Thomas has joined Artistic Director Ann Filmer in leading 16th Street as the theater's new Managing Director. Mr. Thomas comes to 16th Street from Great River Shakespeare Festival in Minnesota where he was Director of Community Engagement and Company Manager for four years. Mr. Thomas, who is of Dakota ancestry and a Native American historian and playwright, began July 1 and can be reached at rob@16thstreettheater.org and (708)795-6704.

16th Street Theater is now seeking to collect 'Letters from Dad' from the local community. The theater will choose excerpts of some of these letters to be read them aloud in an event at FitzGerald's, 6615 Roosevelt Road in Berwyn on Wednesday, March 4 at 7:30 PM.

Deborah Stewart Joins 16th Street as Managing Director

North Berwyn Park District's 16th Street Theater announces that Deborah Stewart has joined Artistic Director Ann Filmer in leading 16th Street as the theater's new Managing Director. Stewart comes to 16th Street from Steppenwolf Theatre where she was Director of Foundation and Government Relations for the past nine years. Before that, Stewart worked with Filmer at Chicago Dramatists as Development Director when Filmer was Producing Director. Stewart began June 23 following the departure of Eddie Sugarman who left 16th Street to lead the Theatre of Western Springs.

New Chicago Artists Join the Goodman's Artistic Team for 2013-14 Playwrights Unit

A new crop of local talent joins Goodman Theatre's artistic team for the 2013/2014 Season. The four Chicago-based writers named to the fourth season of the Playwrights Unit-a year-long residency program designed to support and develop new works-include Andrew Hinderaker, Gift Theatre ensemble member; Mickle Maher, cofounder of Theater Oobleck; Anne Garcia-Romero, a resident playwright at Chicago Dramatists; and Laura Schellhardt, who oversees undergraduate playwriting at Northwestern University. A partnership with Chicago Dramatists, the Playwrights Unit meets twice per month with members of the Goodman's artistic team to discuss their plays-in-progress and provide feedback for one another. The program includes readings of the playwrights' works-in-progress at Chicago Dramatists in early 2014, and culminates in summer 2014 with staged readings of their completed works at the Goodman. Playwrights Unit alumni include Greg Allen, Alice Austen, Ike Holter and Christopher Oscar Peña (2012/2013 Season); Philip Dawkins, Nambi E. Kelley, Elaine Romero and Martin Zimmerman (2011/2012 Season); and Seth Bockley, Lisa Dillman, Laura Jacqmin and Rohina Malik (2010/2011 Season).
