BWW Reviews: Ballet Hispanico Opens at the Joyce Theater

On Tuesday, April 14th, 2015, Ballet Hispanico opened its season. Under the artistic direction of Eduardo Vilaro, who became the company's second artistic director in 2009 since the company was founded and directed in 1970 by Tina Ramirez, the repertoire and feel has changed. Today's Ballet Hispanico tends toward the contemporary.

Ballet Hispanico Performs at Queens Theatre This Weekend

Ballet Hispanico, recognized as the nation's leading Latino dance organization since 1970, will present a quartet of audience favorites at Queens Theatre this weekend, February 14-15, 2015. Performances: Today at 2pm and 8pm, Sunday at 3pm. Tickets start at $25 and are on sale now at www.queenstheatre.org.

Ballet Hispanico to Perform at Queens Theatre, 2/14-15

Ballet Hispanico, recognized as the nation's leading Latino dance organization since 1970, will present a quartet of audience favorites at Queens Theatre on February 14-15, 2015. SAG-AFTRA presented its coveted Actor® statuettes for the outstanding motion picture and primetime television performances of 2014 at the 21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards® in ceremonies attended by film and television's leading actors, held Sunday, Jan. 25, at the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center. The 21st Annual SAG Awards® was simulcast live coast-to-coast by TNT and TBS at 8 p.m. (ET) / 5 p.m. (PT). A primetime encore presentation immediately followed on TNT. A live stream of the SAG Awards® was also available for viewing at the TNT and TBS websites, and the Watch TNT and Watch TBS apps for iOS Android.

Ballet Hispanico Performs at 24th Annual International Ballet Festival of Havana This Weekend

Ballet Hispanico, recognized as America's leading Latino dance organization since 1970, will perform in Cuba's International Ballet Festival of Havana this weekend, November 1-2, 2014 at 5pm. Highlights of the program include Asuka, a celebration of the music of Celia Cruz by Ballet Hispanico's Cuban-American Artistic Director Eduardo Vilaro, along with Sortijas (Cayetano Soto), Sombrerísimo (Annabelle Lopez Ochoa), and El Beso (Gustavo Ramírez Sansano). This engagement marks Ballet Hispanico's first-ever performance in Cuba.

Highlights of the program include a Celia Cruz-inspired work by Artistic Director Eduardo Vilaro and Sortijas by dynamic and groundbreaking Spanish choreographer Cayetano Soto. The 2014 CFDA Fashion Awards Winners and More!

The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) paid tribute to the winners and honorees of the 2014 CFDA Fashion Awards in collaboration with Swarovski at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center. Film director and screenwriter John Waters was the host for the evening. For the thirteenth year in a row, the evening was generously underwritten by Swarovski.

Ballet Hispanico, recognized as the nation's leading Latino dance organization since 1970, will host its annual Junior Society benefit, Dance Into Fashion, at The Jane Ballroom today, May 8, 2014 at 8pm. The evening will showcase the creations of Venezuelan-born fashion designer Angel Sanchez as modeled by Ballet Hispanico company dancers in a unique presentation choreographed by Artistic Director Eduardo Vilaro. Mr. Sanchez's collaboration with Ballet Hispanico includes the design of original costumes for a new choreographic work premiering at the Company's New York Season at the Joyce Theater on April 15-27, 2014.

Ballet Hispanico's 2014 Gala Raises Over $1 Million

Ballet Hispanico raised more than $1 million in support of the company's artistic and educational work in New York City and around the country at their 2014 Gala on Monday, April 7, 2014. During the evening, Ballet Hispanico proudly honored the Ford Foundation with the Civic Inspiration Award. Proceeds from the evening, which totaled over $1 million, will benefit the creation of new Company works, need-based financial aid and merit scholarships in the Ballet Hispanico School of Dance, and community arts education programs.
